1 Thessalonians 1, 2 &3

1 テサロニケ/Thessalonians 1: 4-10 !

4 神に愛されている兄弟たち。あなたがたが神に選ばれた者であることは私たちが知っています。 For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you,


5 なぜなら、私たちの福音があなたがたに伝えられたのは、ことばだけによったのではなく、力と聖霊と強い確信とによったからです。また、私たちがあなたがたのところで、あなたがたのために、どのようにふるまったかは、あなたがたが知っています。 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.


6 あなたがたも、多くの苦難の中で、聖霊による喜びをもってみことばを受け入れ、私たちと主とにならう者になりました。 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.


7 こうして、あなたがたは、マケドニヤとアカヤとのすべての信者の模範になったのです。 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.


8 主のことばが、あなたがたのところから出てマケドニヤとアカヤに響き渡っただけでなく、神に対するあなたがたの信仰はあらゆる所に伝わっているので、私たちは何も言わなくてよいほどです。 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia̶your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,


9 私たちがどのようにあなたがたに受け入れられたか、また、あなたがたがどのように偶像から神に立ち返って、生けるまことの神に仕えるようになり、 for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,


10 また、神が死者の中からよみがえらせなさった御子、すなわち、やがて来る御怒りから私たちを救い出してくださるイエスが天から来られるのを待ち望むようになったか、それらのことは他の人々が言い広めているのです。 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead̶Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Their foundations were laid in the word of God.

1テサロニケ/Thessalonians 2:17 ‒ 3:5 !

19 私たちの主イエスが再び来られるとき、御前で私たちの望み、喜び、誇りの冠となるのはだれでしょう。あなたがたではありませんか。 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?


20 あなたがたこそ私たちの誉れであり、また喜びなのです。 Indeed, you are our glory and joy.


3:1 そこで、私たちはもはやがまんできなくなり、私たちだけがアテネにとどまることにして、 So when we could stand it no longer, we thought it best to be left by ourselves in Athens.


2 私たちの兄弟であり、キリストの福音において神の同労者であるテモテを遣わしたのです。それは、あなたがたの信仰についてあなたがたを強め励まし、 We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,


3 このような苦難の中にあっても、動揺する者がひとりもないようにするためでした。あなたがた自身が知っているとおり、私たちはこのような苦難に会うように定められているのです。 so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them.


4 あなたがたのところにいたとき、私たちは苦難に会うようになる、と前もって言っておいたのですが、それが、ご承知のとおり、はたして事実となったのです。 In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.


5 そういうわけで、私も、あれ以上はがまんができず、また誘惑者があなたがたを誘惑して、私たちの労苦がむだになるようなことがあってはいけないと思って、あなたがたの信仰を知るために、彼を遣わしたのです。 For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.

They made constant effort for spiritual growth.

1 Thessalonians 3:6-9 !

6 ところが、今テモテがあなたがたのところから私たちのもとに帰って来て、あなたがたの信仰と愛について良い知らせをもたらしてくれました。また、あなたがたが、いつも私たちのことを親切に考えていて、私たちがあなたがたに会いたいと思うように、あなたがたも、しきりに私たちに会いたがっていることを、知らせてくれました。 But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you.


7 このようなわけで、兄弟たち。私たちはあらゆる苦しみと患難のうちにも、あなたがたのことでは、その信仰によって、慰めを受けました。 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.


8 あなたがたが主にあって堅く立っていてくれるなら、私たちは今、生きがいがあります。 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.


9 私たちの神の御前にあって、あなたがたのことで喜んでいる私たちのこのすべての喜びのために、神にどんな感謝をささげたらよいでしょう。 How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?

3. リーダーと会衆が互いに励まし合った

Mutual encouragement for leaders and congregation.

1 Thessalonians 3:10 - 13 !

10 私たちは、あなたがたの顔を見たい、信仰の不足を補いたいと、昼も夜も熱心に祈っています。

Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.


11 どうか、私たちの父なる神であり、また私たちの主イエスである方ご自身が、私たちの道を開いて、あなたがたのところに行かせてくださいますように。

Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you.


12 また、私たちがあなたがたを愛しているように、あなたがたの互いの間の愛を、またすべての人に対する愛を増させ、満ちあふれさせてくださいますように。

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.


13 また、あなたがたの心を強め、私たちの主イエスがご自分のすべての聖徒とともに再び来られるとき、私たちの父なる神の御前で、聖く、責められるところのない者としてくださいますように。May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

4. 成長し続けるために祈り続ける
