Question 1

καὶ εὐθὺς

τοῖς σάββασιν

εἰσελθὼν

εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν

ἐδίδασκεν.

And immediately

on the Sabbath,

having entered

into the synagogue,

he was teaching.

κράξας

ὁ πατὴρ τοῦ παιδίου

ἔλεγεν·

πιστεύω.

Immediately,

having cried out

the father of the child

was saying:

“I believe.”

ἐλθόντι δὲ

εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν

προσῆλθον αὐτῷ.

ἐμείναμεν

ἡμέραν μίαν

προσελθόντες δὲ

οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ οἰκοδεσπότου

εἶπον αὐτῷ·

κύριε, οὐχὶ καλὸν σπέρμα

ἔσπειρας;

But having come

the slaves of the owner

said to him,

“Lord, did you not sow good

seed?”

Question 6

ἀκούσας δὲ

ὁ Ἡρῴδης ἔλεγεν,

Ὅν ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα

Ἰωάννην,

οὗτος ἠγέρθη.

But having heard

Herod was saying,

“Whom I beheaded,

John,

he has been raised!”

Question 7

ὁ δὲ Σίμων καὶ αὐτὸς

ἐπίστευσεν,

καὶ βαπτισθεὶς

ἦν προσκαρτερῶν

τῷ Φιλίππῳ,

θεωρῶν τε σημεῖα

καὶ δυνάμεις μεγάλας.

And Simon himself also

believed,

and after being baptized,

he followed after

Phillip,

looking at the signs

and great miracles.

Question 8

καὶ ἀποκριθεῖσα

ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν·

οὐχί, ἀλλὰ

κληθήσεται

Ἰωάννης.

And having answered,

his mother said,

“No, but

he will be called

John.”

καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Ἰησοῦν

ἀπὸ μακρόθεν

ἔδραμεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν

αὐτῷ

καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ

λέγει,

Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί,

Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ

ὑψίστου;

And having seen Jesus

from afar,

he ran and bowed down

before him

and having cried out in a

loud voice he said,

“What do you have to do

with me, Jesus, son of

the Most High God?”

Question 10a

Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς

ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἔλεγεν

διδάσκων

ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ·

πῶς λέγουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς

ὅτι ὁ Χριστὸς υἱὸς Δαυίδ

ἐστιν;

And having answered

Jesus was saying,

while teaching

in the temple:

How is it that the scribes are

saying that the Christ is the

son of David?

αὐτὸς Δαυὶδ εἶπεν

ἐν τῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἁγίῳ·

εἶπεν κύριος τῷ κυρίῳ μου·

κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου

ἕως ἂν θῶ

τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου

ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν σου.

David himself said

by the Holy Spirit,

The Lord said to my lord,

Sit at my right

until I place

your enemies

under your feet.

Question 11

ἀσπασάμενα

τοὺς πατρὰς

καὶ τὰς μητρὰς αὐτῶν

τὰ παιδία ἐξῆλθεν

σὺν τοῖς ἄλλοις

τέκνοις.

Having greeted

their fathers

and mothers,

the children went out

with the other

children.

Question 12

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς

ἐλθὼν

ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας

καὶ εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν

ἔκραξεν ἐν μεγάλῃ φωνῇ·

πάντες

οἳ εἰς εμὲ πιστεύουσιν

σωθήσονται ἀπὸ τῆς

ἐξουσίας τοῦ πονηροῦ.

But Jesus

having gone

out of the house

and into the temple

cried out in a loud voice,

Everyone

who is believing in me

will be saved from the

authority of the evil one.

Question 13

ἰδόντες δὲ τὰς θυγατέρας

τῶν ἀνθρώπων ὅτι καλαί

εἰσιν,

οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ἔλαβον

ἑαυτοῖς γυναῖκας

ἀπὸ πασῶν,

ὧν ἐξελέξαντο.

But having seen the

daughters of men,

that they are beautiful,

the sons of God took

for themselves wives

from all,

whom they chose.

Question 14a

καθὼς καὶ Μωϋσῆς

προσηύξατο

πρὸς κύριον

καὶ κατέβη πῦρ

ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ

καὶ ἐδαπάνησεν

τὰ τῆς θυσίας

Even as also Moses

prayed

to the Lord

and fire came down

from heaven

and consumed

the offerings of the

sacrifice

οὕτως καὶ Σαλωμὼν

προσηύξατο

καὶ καταβὰν

τὸ πῦρ ἐδαπάνησεν

τὰ τῆς θυσίας.

so too Solomon

prayed

sacrifice.

καὶ λαβοῦσα τοῦ

καρποῦ αὐτοῦ

ἔφαγεν

καὶ ἔδωκεν

καὶ τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς

μετʼ αὐτῆς

καὶ ἔφαγον.

And having taken

of its fruit,

she ate,

and she gave

also to her husband

with her,

and they ate.

καὶ ἠγέρθη

καὶ εὐθὺς

ἄρας

τὸν κράβαττον

ἐξῆλθεν.

And he was raised,

and immediately,

having taken up

the bed,

ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἡρῴδης

ἐταράχθη

καὶ πᾶσα Ἱεροσόλυμα

μετʼ αὐτοῦ.

King Herod

was disturbed,

and all Jerusalem

with him.

καὶ πάλιν

ἀπελθὼν

προσηύξατο

τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον

εἰπών.

καὶ πάλιν

ἐλθὼν

εὗρεν αὐτοὺς

καθεύδοντας.

And again

having gone away,

he prayed,

the same word

saying.

And again,

after going

he found them

sleeping.

Question 19

εἶπεν·

λάβετε,

τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ σῶμά μου.

καὶ λαβὼν ποτήριον

εὐχαριστήσας

ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς,

καὶ ἔπιον πάντες

ἐξ αὐτοῦ

He said

Take;

this is my body.

And having taken the cup

[and] having given thanks

he gave to them,

and they all drank

from it

Question 20

αὐτὸς δὲ

ἐκβαλὼν πάντας

παραλαμβάνει

τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου

καὶ τὴν μητέρα

καὶ τοὺς μετʼ αὐτοῦ

καὶ εἰσπορεύεται

ὅπου ἦν τὸ παιδίον.

But he

having cast everyone out

he is taking

the father of the child

and the mother

and those with him,

and he is going into

where the child was.
