PAUL DEFENDS THE UNITY of the CHURCH IN THE NEW WORLD LAUNCHED by JESUS by:- Defending the INDEPENDENCE of his APOSTLESHIP

- Clarifying the UNIQUENESS of his GOOD NEWS

Paul, an apostle (my apostleship doesn’t derive from

human sources! Nor did it come through a human being. It came through Jesus the Messiah, and God the father who raised him from the dead…) SEE: ACTS 9

GALATIANS 1:1-3

APOSTLEOne who is sent; term of ambassadorship;an official delegate; someone’s representative;primary criterion for an apostle of Jesus was being an eye witness of His resurrected body

You see, brothers and sisters, let me make it clear to you: the gospel announced by me is not a mere human invention. I didn’t receive it from human beings, nor was I taught it; it came through an unveiling of Jesus the Messiah. SEE ACTS 9

You heard, didn’t you, the way I behaved when I was still within ‘Judaism’. I persecuted the church of God violently, and ravaged it. I advanced in ‘Judaism’ beyond many ofmy fellow Jewish contemporaries; I was extremely zealous for my ancestral traditions

GALATIANS 1:11-14

GOSPEL IN SCRIPTUREYou who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!”

(Isaiah 40:9)

GOSPEL IN SCRIPTUREHow beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.

(Isaiah 52:7-8)

- Judaism = an activity; propagating the Jewish way of life

(not specifically a “religion” as we think of it…)

But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb, and called me by His grace, was pleased to unveil His Son in me, so that I might announce the good news about Him among the nations— immediately I did not confer with flesh, and blood. Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me. No; I went away to Arabia, and afterwards returned to Damascus.

ZEAL & JOURNEY of ELIJAHElijah was afraid, and ran for his life…he traveled 40 days, and 40 nights (from Mt. Carmel) until he reached Horeb (Sinai)

the mountain of God. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty.

The Israelites have rejected Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and put Your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus.”(1 Kings 19, excerpts)

Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to speak with Cephas (Peter). I stayed with him for two weeks. I didn’t see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother (what I’m writing to you, see here—in the presence of God, I’m not telling a lie!)

GALATIANS 1:18-20

Then I went to the regions of Syria, and Cilicia…

GALATIANS 1:21-24

Then I went to the regions of Syria, and Cilicia… I remained unknown by sight to the messianic assemblies in Judaea. They simply heard that the one who had been persecuting them was now announcing the good news of the faith which he once tried to destroy. And they glorified God because of me.
