Leisure and sports in Dubai

Introduction

To break the routine of our daily life and to take a break from all stress that we go

through at work, we have to entertain ourselves or we have to practice some sports.

Leisure is defined as the time that we spend enjoying ourselves away from work,

studies and the daily tasks that would exhaust and tire us. For many people,

including me, leisure is all about sleeping and relaxing and for others it is about

enjoying a long walk on the beach or reading a book in a quiet area. Nowadays,

leisure is about spending time with family and friends or as it is called, the social

leisure. In the social leisure, people will be enjoying different activities such as

shopping, travelling or just by going to nice movies at the cinemas and finally

sports. Sport is a part of leisure, also, it is very nice and a great social activity, and

it is defined as the different activities that involve competing among the different

individuals to win a game.

In this project, I will be taking you on a tour in leisure and sports activities in the

beautiful city of Dubai, and we will discover the reason behind calling it the pearl

of the world and why it became one of the best leisure places in the Gulf region

and the entire world. We will see the various leisure destinations in Dubai, and we

will analyse all the various activities that people engage themselves in there. After

that, we will be looking at the different sports that people do enjoy in the city of

Dubai, and we will see how this area made a great impact on the people and their

leisure activities in that amazing city. The reason why I selected this topic and the

city is because I always look forward to leisure and sports and the best place to

have both is nowhere else than Dubai

Leisure in Dubai

Next to Abu-Dhabi, to the north is the city of Dubai where leading innovation is

clearly shown in every possible life aspect. Leisure is what the government of

Dubai worked hard to achieve because to them a human who enjoys his life from

time to time will produce better in his work and help in developing himself and the

place where he lives in. In Dubai, we can start our journey in the Mall of the

Emirates where we can enjoy many leisure activities such as shopping, dining or

simply walking around in a cool weather in the hot summer.

From the Mall of the Emirates and down the Emirates road, we reach the amazing

and the huge, Dubai Mall. Dubai Mall is the largest mall in the world with a total

area of 5,400,000 square feet and with over 1,200 shops. Dubai Mall includes the

finest shopping brands from all over the world, which make it the best place for

shopping not only in the UAE but in the entire Gulf region. In Dubai Mall, it is all

about the word big and you will understand that once you see the largest fish

aquarium in the world that includes fishes from all seven seas.

Dubai Mall is located at the base of the world tallest building since 2010, Burj

Khalifa. Burj Khalifa is a true art of architecture that is all about leisure. The Burj,

tower in Arabic, is a mixed-use building that includes the Dubai Fountain, the first

musical fountain in the Middle East, observation deck, Burj Khalifa Park and Floor

plans.

From Burj Khalifa, and down the road to the area of Jumairah, we reach the Palm

Island, the world biggest artificial island with a number of resorts that are equal to

some other countries. The island was constructed with a design similar to a real

palm tree to show the importance of the Emirati culture to the world. Once you are

in the Palm Island, you must come across the Atlantis Hotel, one of the most

famous hotels and leisure resorts in the world.

Sports in Dubai

In Dubai, there are many places to watch and to enjoy your favorite sports any time

of the year and in any season. For many people around the world, skiing is a sport

that you can practice in Europe or few parts of the world during winter, but in

Dubai, you can enjoy skiing around the year indoors. In the Emirates Mall, you can

enjoy and practice indoor skiing on real snow on a slope that is well designed and

constructed to accommodate thousands of visitors every year to practice their

favorite sport, skiing.

Another sport that people do practice in Dubai is cricket. DSC Cricket Stadium in

Dubai (also known as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium) is a new multi-

purpose stadium in Dubai that is open for everyone to learn and practice cricket.

Conclusion

We will always be busy and the burdens of life will always be with us, and that is

why we need to have a break or a holiday from time to time. Leisure is defined as

the time that we spend enjoying ourselves away from work, studies and the daily

tasks that would exhaust and tire us. Sports as a part of leisure, is a very nice and a

great way of enjoyment and it is defined as the different activities that involve

competing among the different individuals to win the game. In Dubai, you can

enjoy both leisure and sports all year and all the time, and you can enjoy your time

with many facilities with friends and family. These places together made Dubai in

the past year alone one of the best leisure and sport destination in the entire world.
