VALERIAN SOKOLOV

Valerian Sergeevich Sokolov was  born 30 August 1946.

He is a former Soviet bantamweight amateur boxer who won the gold

medal at the 1968 Summer Games.

BYOGRAPHYSokolov was born in village

Shyhobylovo. He started boxing in 1962 in sports club “Dinamo”, Cheboksary. He is a candidate of pedagogical sciences and retired

colonel of Red Army. Valerian Sergeevich awarded the orders

“Medal of Honor” and "For Service to the Motherland in the

Armed Forces of USSR"

Valerian Sokolov spent 216 fights, won 196 victories.

From 1981 to 1986 he was the head coach of the Armed

Forces of the USSR. He achived gold medal in Mexico in 1968. Now

Valerian is 67 years old. He is a national Russian boxing

coach.
