• Act of increasing the knowledge and skill of a worker for doing a certain job.

• Flippo: organized procedure by which knowledge and skill of an employee increased for doing a particular job

A. on the job training: worker is trained in a real work situation

Executive Development/Management Dev.

• Process of growth and dev. By which managers develop their abilities

• Combination of instructions + actual job exp.• Improving performance by giving them

opportunities for growth and dev.

A. On the job Training: 1. Coaching: superior acts as a coach- Immediate superior guides the trainee- Trainee serves as an assistant to the senior officer

to fill up the future vacancy2. Position rotation:- Rotation of trainee from one job to another on

regular basis to broaden the knowledge and skills- Boosts interdepartmental cooperation
