МеdiaNext “Media next to you”

2 main ideas:

- Media are becoming more accessible for ordinary users who

are involved to generate content

- Media of the nearest future will reshape future journalism

Main points of MediaNext: objectives and assignments:

Overall objective: to improve knowledge, understanding and use of new media in Ukraine.

Special objectives: а) to promote structural changes in Ukraine in the information era based on “new media thinking;

б) to make the society able to set media agenda through use of new media;

в) to improve competences of journalists and thus to increase the level of Ukrainian journalism.

Main points of MediaNext: geographical outreach

National level + 5 regions:

- Lviv,

- Odesa, - Donetsk, - Kharkiv,

- Vinnytsya.

Main points of MediaNext: project duration

• 24 months (April 2009 – April 2011)

• І year – needs assessment, development of training modules, establishment of New Media School by Internews Ukraine, first training session

• ІІ year – specialized training modules, advanced training sessions of New Media School, networking of cities to be centers of media innovations in regions of Ukraine.

Main points MediaNext: target audience

350 persons - direct beneficiaries of the project.

• NGOs leaders and civil activists

• Journalism students

• New Media School of Internews Ukraine with a series of training sessions;

• Web-resource as a social network;

• New media related consultations;

• Networking of a journalism community;

• Summer New Media School for students
