55 AWARDSWe are always thrilled when our hard work is recognised in the industry

WELCOmESuna Interior Design has continued to grow and evolve during the course of the last year. Since the previous edition of our magazine we have taken on another whole floor for storage, employed several more members of staff, further developed our office space and of course, created numerous designs, some of which we’re showcasing in this, the 4th edition of our in-house magazine.

We have continued to steadily grow the business and while we do this it is vital to us that we ensure that each and every project receives the personal touch that makes our work stand out from the rest. We continue to work on exciting projects for property developers including CGI design which has really grown during the last year, proving that there is a definite demand in the industry. In this edition we look at some of our most successful projects within this sector, just a small taste of what we have achieved.

We’re proud of the work we provide our clients and we are delighted to have had success at numerous awards ceremonies during the course of the last year. We’ve even moved into the judging category, with Helen taking a seat on the judging panel at the kbb awards. Take a look at some of our greatest achievements in Awards on page 55.

We hope you enjoy this year’s edition and keep up with what we’re doing during the course of the following year. We’d love to hear from you – follow us on Twitter (@SunaInteriorDes), Facebook and read our blog: www.sunainteriordesign.com/blog. Enjoy!

We were briefed to create a design that spoke to the well-heeled Hove market that encompassed the feel of Brighton but with the slightly more grown-up essence of Hove. Architecturally this ‘grand design’ maximises the sense of space with very generous room sizes centred around a terrace and mature tree, ideal for open plan living and entertaining. So it fell within our remit to accentuate these elements.

We were inspired by the location and selected a purposefully eclectic colour palette. The feature pieces and design classics are selectively quirky, without being too over the top. The design is full of personality and unique items expressed through a palette of black and white with splashes of colour.

As this home is ideally suited to entertaining, we selected a twelve-seater dining table and Eames style chairs. Above the dining table hangs a stylish cluster pendant light. In the living room the Eero Saarinen style ‘womb’ reading chair cocoons readers while they lose themselves in their latest novel. The bespoke wrap-around shelves are ideal for exhibiting works of art or storing collections of books, to create a sense of individuality. Each element in the design was specifically chosen to enhance the sense of personality within the home.

Our brief was to create something unique for this three-bed townhouse that involved the local community, a talking point, something that hadn’t been done before. This captivating, alabaster design achieves this by housing a contemporary selection of white furnishings that work to create the perfect ‘gallery space’ to display original works of art, supplied by a local gallery. These unique works of art adorn the walls, bringing bright punches of colour and intrigue into the rooms while the alluring white pieces of furniture, such as the egg chair and high gloss coffee table in the living room add a subtle glamour.

The fantastic works of art are the piece de resistance, adding glamour and making the design completely unique. To ensure that the white wasn’t too stark the wooden floor that runs from the stairs up through the house also breaks up the white-on-white backdrop. It was important that the townhouse should feel like a home, not just a gallery.

In each room there are a number of focal points that ensure the interior is interesting and dynamic. In the dining room the feature chairs around the high gloss dining table add vibrancy to the room further complemented by the large frosted bottle chandelier hanging above the table. In the living room, behind the bespoke white sofa a Twiggy-style floor lamp hangs stylishly over the sofa, creating an illuminated reading corner. The study is filled with quirky and interesting items that continue the white theme, with a Panton-style chair at the desk. In the master bedroom feature wallpaper has been used on the ceiling to dramatic effect.

“We’re thrilled with this confident scheme, a rousing showcase of contemporary design at its finest.”

Suna Interior Design was briefed to design an urban, modern apartment portraying quality and detail. This design is sophisticated and metropolitan with sharp lines, industrial touches and a luxurious feel.

The apartments are targeted towards young professionals, those who commute into the city and first-time buyers. The borough is currently undergoing a large scale regeneration, yet has still retained its special and unique atmosphere. There are old commercial buildings, such as the brewery, green parks and the river Wandle which combine to create a unique, metropolitan and trendy location.

As such the palette in this design is inspired by the local elements and comprises black, grey, tan leather and blue with touches of metallics. The design as a whole, is tailored, inspired by the city commuters, with concrete and metallics contrasted against each other. To add a further dimension to the design, plaid, checks, stripes, pinstripes and hounds tooth patterns have been used throughout the apartment.

We were commissioned to create an edgy, London interior with an eclectic style that comprised unique items, reminiscent of ‘local finds’. The owners will be discerning, trendy purchasers who own one-off pieces of artwork and objects d’art. We fulfilled this brief by designing a realistic, not too ‘show house’ home that will appeal to the media and design savvy shopaholics who have an affinity for the local area.

We were inspired by a mixed palette of navy, yellows and warm tones. We incorporated industrial style elements such as the dining table

and chairs and the brass bed to reflect the ‘warehouse’ refurbishment that has taken place in the apartment. The traditional ‘creative’ study has been styled for a media industry creative couple, who enjoy working in an inspiring environment.

Our general approach was to get into the mind-set of a creative, discerning purchaser who has their finger on the pulse of current trends, who is always on the lookout for one-off pieces to create a realistic, high-appeal city dwelling that reflects personality and individualism.

Suna Interior Design was commissioned to design both the marketing suite and the show house, including both the interior and the specification design. The marketing suite at The Star & Garter was to set the tone for the visitor experience at this unique, listed building.

The refined marketing suite features an external passage that leads from the front entrance desk up to the main reception area and from there, into the show home. Our remit included creating, sourcing and installing all of the elements involved.

Suna Interior Design was briefed to design the ultimate in luxury for this marketing suite. Displaying bespoke joinery and unique features, such as the brass wall-panelling behind the champagne bar. The result is a practical yet sophisticated environment that oozes understated luxury.

The glamorous show home is both an ideal home and entertainment space. High ceilings with coffered lighting feature throughout this apartment, enhancing each space. We were briefed to create a design that epitomised luxury and maximised the space, while including all the elements of a tech-savvy home.

Wanting to be sympathetic to the building, we selected an elegant palette in each room, complemented by tasteful and bespoke furniture, accessories and carpentry.

The apartment features a large kitchen and dining room, a drawing room which is both the ideal space for entertaining or to relax after a long day out-and-about and three bedrooms, each ensuite and all with their own stylish look and feel.

“As a project, this was a complex but fascinating one that involved both specification and interior elements to the design. We are thrilled with the outcome - the elegant design speaks for itself.”

PORTOBELLOFor the first project we were briefed to create a master ensuite bathroom that was a haven for the owners. The interior design of the house revolves around layers of white. As such we wanted to create an impactful feel in this dark tiled bathroom with white sanitaryware that gives the room a wow-factor. To create maximum effect we increased the size of the bathroom. This allowed for the free-standing bath, which we felt was an important element in this design.

HAmPSHIREThe second project was for a large, luxurious family home in Hampshire. Here we were briefed to design a luxurious retreat that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The master ensuite and family bathrooms were inspired by warm tones, lime stones, oak and natural materials. With a darker palette used in the master ensuite to create a distinct feel between the two.

NORTH LONDONThe third project was the specification design for a completely refurbished warehouse apartment in north London. We were briefed to create a contemporary industrial feel that would appeal to city dwellers who are creative and have their fingers on the pulse of current trends and are always on the look-out for one-off pieces. To facilitate this we’ve used elements such as the metal toggle light switches, brick slips on the living room wall and a dark, moody palette for the bathroom.

mAYFAIROur final project takes us to Mayfair where we were commissioned to design a bathroom that was the epitome of luxury. We achieved this by using a light grey patterned marble on both the floor and walls and off-setting this against bespoke dark wood cabinetry. The free-standing bath features stylish brassware and a beautiful chandelier that hangs majestically above it. We also designed the guest shower room, which continues the luxurious, marbled theme.

With the economy continuing to grow and the construction industry with it, such is the demand for property that many developers are able to sell future developments ‘off-plan’. In order to maximise their selling potential, they are utilising computer generated images or CGIs. This is where we step into the process. Using our extensive experience in the design industry we have developed Design for CGI, a branch of our business that bridges the gap between developers who want up to date design and CGI companies with their technical prowess.

A specifically dedicated team work with CGI companies to create exceptional interior designs. These CGIs predict what the interior will look like, enabling potential buyers to properly visualise their future property.

Over the past year we have successfully worked with a number of developers and CGI companies. We have embraced our role in the Design for CGI process, specifying the products that will comprise each visual. This design is then sent to a specialist CGI company, where the actual fly-through or individual stills are put together.

We pay attention to the clients brief, product and potential purchaser and develop an outstanding interior design that better enables the client to sell their product to their specific marketplace.

Marketing suites provide an environment that enables developers to showcase their product, houses or apartments in a stimulating yet welcoming environment where the buyers are put at ease. When we design a marketing suite we create a customer journey, which starts from the moment you step through the door. All of these aspects are skilfully combined with a knowledge of design and the working environment to ensure that the staff are able to perform at their optimum. A successful marketing suite must reflect the aesthetic and the quality of the product through design.

X&Y mARKETING SUITEFor the X&Y Marketing Suite our brief was to design a pop-up marketing suite (the permanent suite to follow at a later date). Displaying a journey full of visually stimulating focal points to engage the customer with the brand and reflect the vibrancy of the area in which the new development is located. We used bold colours and sharp lines inspired by the development logo in contrast with classic and elegant black and white modern furniture. This can be seen as more of a dynamic exhibition space where the customer is encouraged to explore.
