One forward-looking and likewise eco-friendly major application ofthe proven Polyurethane-Composite Spray Moulding (PUR-CSM) tech-nology is the substitution of parts made from glass fibre-reinforcedplastic (GFRP) such as bathtubs and shower trays. Here, Polyurethanespray coating fulfills the highest requirements in terms of productionflexibility, reproducible part quality and material efficiency:
>> Optimized material application through defined spray interruptions
>> Modularly designed plants with easyand quick extension options
>> Optimal thermal insulation and improved acoustic properties through the direct application of different polyurethane foam layers
>> Direct attachment of bath supports feasible (no need for wood inserts)
>> Fully-automated production possible
>> Production in accordance with the DIN EN 198 for Europe and the ANSI standard for the USA (depending on material and process)
>> Optional: targeted PUR reinforcement with chopped glass fibres

By completely eliminating the need for any type of solvent, PUR-CSMspray technology not only substantially reduces production costs, but also considerably facilitates the use of exhaust systems duringproduction. Furthermore, time and energy-intensive temperature control processes are avoided.

The machine systemReliable high-precision metering for spray applications
PUR-CSM SANITARY production cells come with a standard TOPLINEHK high-pressure metering machine that is specifically designed for spray applications in sanitary ware. The machine concept comprises a sophisticated arrangement of the individual units as wellas top-quality components. With an output from 30 grams/second to 150 grams/second, the machine is optimally suited to allow reliable high-precision metering of the polyurethane mixture duringspraying. The metering machine is supplied with a comprehensivecomponent temperature control and an intuitive user-friendly controlpanel via full graphics touchscreen. As an option, the machine canalso be fitted with a chopping unit for glass fibre reinforcement.

The mixheadHomogeneous spray application and high process reliability
Depending on the individual application, the metering system used in PUR-CSM SANITARY utilization is equipped with a state-of-the-art MN10 CSM or MN6 CSM spray mixhead in two-componentdesign. Three or four-component MN10-type versions are also available on request. CSM spray mixheads ensure homogeneousspray application and high process reliability. In addition, the spray operation can be interrupted at any time during the application - for example, when spray-coating vertical geometries. As the spraynozzle does not have to be cleaned, maintenance is clearly reduced.

Hand-held spraying
In addition to the largely automated reinforcement of bathtubs and shower trays in CSM SANITARY production cells, Hennecke provides a solution for processors who laminate GFRP in low production volumes. Decisive for manual processing is a compact MN6 CSM spray mixhead with balancer and individually connectable glass fibre feeding control (optional). Also when using the hand-held spraying method, PUR-CSM technology meets the most exacting demands in terms of production flexibility, reproducible part quality and material efficiency.

New freedom in surface finishing thanks to Gelcoat
Besides the thermoplastics ABS and PMMA that are most commonly used insanitary ware, the use of PUR-CSM SANITARY offers another promising production method. Instead of a foil, a freely sprayed gelcoat forms the basiswhich is then reinforced with a polyurethane spray coat. The process does notrequire a thermoforming system and there is no foil scrap. But what is moreimportant: The method offers new design possibilities for the user when it comes to colour and shape.
