CULTURAL EXPERIENCE – TECH STUDIO (IMd1, CTd1)

Instructions:
1. Make groups of three (3). Make believe you are a team of art critiques and graphic
designers that have been invited by GimnasioCampestre to design an invitation for
the exhibition of “PACÍFICO” by the Colombian artist José Joaquín Laverde Roldán.
2. You may use any digital program you like. (Power point, Photoshop,
www.pixlr.com, Paint, etc.) Your invitation must be uploaded
towww.blogspot.com, in which you will open an account specifically for this use.
When you are finished, you will send your blogspot link to your teacher to the
following email address: [email protected]. Please remember to include
your names and class in the blogspot.
3. During your visit to the exhibition, use the space under each item to take notes
from the video. Use this information to design your invitation. You may need to
complete your information by searching the internet or the official artist portfolio

4. The invitation must include the items listed below:
a. Image or images of the artist’s work
b. Biographical Review: Information about the artist. (What artist has been his
major source of inspiration? Explain why. What techniques does he use?)

c. What is the exhibition “PACÍFICO” about? Where did the idea come from?
What is the main social message he wants to transmit through his work? How
does his art become a media to express a concept?

d. Where and when will this art exhibit take place?

e. Critical Review: Make a critical judgement about the artist´s intention or
concept in his work “PACÍFICO”.How does this concept relate to the philosophy
at GimnasioCampestre? Can this exhibition have a strong impact in our school?

underneath it since you are the authors of the text.

f. Make the official design for the invitation. Be creative in the way you organize
the information and texts, and include the images as part of the
invitation.Information must be brief and clear, and the invitation must be
appealing to the eye in terms of composition. Use the space below for your
sketch. You may design it in any format you prefer: horizontal, vertical,
squared, ect.
