The 2251EIS analogue addressable photoelectric sensoris a plug in intrinsically sae smoke sensor combiningan optical sensing chamber with analogue addressable
communications. As an intrinsically sae sensor, the2251EIS has been designed specifcally to provide freprotection or most hazardous environments, and hasthereore been engineered so that it cannot become asource o ignition in areas where potentially explosiveatmospheres are likely to arise.
The 2251EIS sensors are approved by BASEEFA to EEx iaIIB T5, or use in hazardous environments. The 2251EISsensor is thereore suitable or use in all hazardousareas up to Zone 0 areas and with most gases, excludinghydrogen and acetylene.
The 2251EIS has two integral LEDs which provide local
visual indication o the sensor status. These LEDsprovide a dual unction. In the event o an alarm, theycan be switched ON continuously, and can also beprogrammed to either blink when polled by the panel orremain o during normal conditions.
The individual loop address o each 2251EIS can beeasily set and read, using the rotary decade addressswitches located on the rear o each sensor. The use
o decimal address codes signifcantly reduces thepotential or incorrect address selection.
Each sensor base includes a tamper resistant optionwhich, when activated, prevents the removal o thesensor rom its base without the use o a tool. Fullcircuit unctionality can be easily confrmed on site byuse o the sensor test switch. Operation o this magneticswitch will generate an alarm response to the fre alarmcontrol panel, making system testing both convenientand simple.

Architect/Engineer SpecicationsIST200 Intelligent Translator Module
Description
The IST200 translator module is intended or use with analogue addressable systems and in conjunction with 2251EIS intrinsically sae photoelectricsmoke sensors. The IST200 translator module serves as an interace between the control panel and up to a maximum o 15 x 2251EIS smoke sensors.The IST200 must also be used in conjunction with a Y72221 galvanic isolator barrier (see below). To ensure correct operation, the IST200 must only beconnected to a listed compatible Control Panel.
The IST200 translator module can be easily mounted within System Sensors existing SMB500 surace mount box (see diagram). The IST200 must belocated within a sae environment.
Y72221 Galvanic Isolator
Description
The Y72221 Galvanic Isolator is a single channel isolated repeater. It is suitable or use as an intrinsically sae isolator between an IST200 translatormodule and up to a maximum o 15 x 2251EIS intrinsically sae photoelectric smoke sensors. The Y72221 is designed to transer a DC current rom a sae
area to the hazardous area load, rom a 24V DC nominal voltage. An AC signal ranging rom 0.6 to 24V will then be transerred, allowing communication tothe 2251EIS sensors in the hazardous area.
We would recommend the use o the Y72221 with all installations o 2251EIS sensors. We do not recommend the use o zener barriers, as they need tobe tied to a high integrity earth, which can lead to earth ault indications on some Fire Control Panels. Please reer to the Fire Control Panel manuactureror compatibility inormation. The Y72221 is certiied intrinsically sae to EEx ia IIC, (Baseea00ATEX087X).
The Y72221 is suitable or DIN rail mounting and can thereore be mounted within any electrical box with suitable DIN rail.
