There is a great richness both in our physical geography, as in what we may call, spiritual ge-ography, coming from the ru-ral, from the country side. The hydroelectric potential from our mountains and rivers, as well as the genuine values of the gospel in our countryside people, are huge. Sometimes we might waste this richness; when those building hydroelec-tric dams are more minded about business profit for a few than to provide safe water and electric power for many or when we dismiss the values of our ancestors thinking that they are rural old fashioned and accept only the current cul-tural values, we are wasting a great wealth, that would quench our thirst for depth and meaning in these big city set-tings. Tanto en la geografía física de América Latina, como en lo que llamaríamos su geografía espiritual, hay gran riqueza de agua en sus campos. El potencial hidroeléctrico es inmenso y la tradición en los más genuinos valores del evangelio también lo es. A veces podemos desperdiciar estas riquezas; por ejemplo cuando en los proyectos hidroeléctricos se piensa más en la ganancia de algunos que en la provisión de agua y energía para muchos; al igual, cuando renunciamos a recibir los valores de nuestros antepasados por solo apreciar lo que la cultura del momento nos presenta como ‘a la moda’, les desechamos como cosas de la gente del campo y desperdiciamos esa gran riqueza, que calmaría nuestra inmensa sed de profundidad que vivimos en las ciudades.
