SPECTATOR SAFETY

9

Whether you are a novice spectator or a seasoned fan, EVERYONE should take time to plan their day’s spectating particularly with safety in mind. The following points may be helpful in your planning: Motorsport can be dangerous and despite the organisers taking all reasonable precautions, unavoidable accidents can and do happen. In respect of these, you are present at your own risk.

\\ PREPARATION \\

● Use the on-line information or the information contained in this event programme to carefully plan your day at the rally.

● Wear sensible clothing, and dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions, sturdy footwear is strongly advised.

● Infants and children should always be accompanied by an adequate number of adults who are responsible for their behaviour and safety at all times.

● Do not bring dogs to the event, as they can be startled by the loud noises and cause a danger to others. Leave them at home, not in your car. Only disabled assistance dogs are permitted and must be on a lead at all times.

● Allow enough time for your travel to your chosen stages (remember some of our roads are narrow. Include time to walk to your chosen view point and plan to be in place before the times printed on the stage maps in this programme.

● Park in a safe place.

\\ ON THE STAGES \\

● Please obey all instructions given by rally officials and marshals. They are there to ensure the safety of you and your fellow spectators.

● Take responsibility for yourself and those with you. ● Take responsibility for others - if you see people behaving inappropriately, they are jeopardising the event for everyone. ● If you decide to leave before the last competitor, please do not walk on a live stage. Always use forest paths for access/egress or walk behind the tree line. ● Better still, stay in your spot and enjoy all the cars, but be aware that after the Sweeper Car SWEEPER has passed there may still be other vehicles moving on the stage.

● Take care on slippery or uneven surfaces. ● Please take all litter home with you or place in the bins provided. ● Do not light fires or barbeques - they can cause major fires, with serious consequences. ● Do not bring fireworks to the event – they are very dangerous and could cause injury to other competitors, or spectators. ● The rally takes place in an area containing important agricultural, forestry and nature conservation interests; respect these and follow the Countryside Code at all times.
