Globalisation is continuing to dramatically change the workplace requiring a workforce that is flexible, diverse and open to change and the realities of the international market. Companies no longer operate in an exclusive local community consisting of a local client and labour market, but in a globally competitive environment. This new paradigm requires a new skills framework, one in which local employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to operate and compete in the global market and new leaders with vision, agility, courage and the mindset of a global citizen.

Jim Collins, in his study of Good to Great companies, found only 11 out of 1435 companies were rated Good to Great. Common to these 11 was the fact that they all, as global leaders, exhibited level 5 leadership competencies and were able to sustain themselves in the longer term. Level 5 global leaders build enduring greatness through a paradoxical blend of personal humility and professional will, channelling ego needs away from themselves towards the larger goal of building a great company. They focus longer term on ways to sustain growth, getting the right people on the bus and building heavily on spiritual and emotional Intelligence.

For Visionary Leaders , HR executives and line manages who are concerned about sustainability, globalisation and engagement of their workforce, this conference is a must.

Greatness is not

a function of circumstances.

Greatness, it turns out, is largely

a matter of conscious choice. Jim Collins

Pre-Conference Certification Workshops

WORKSHOP 1Nuts & Bolts on Organisational Need AnalysisMarius Meyer, UNISAAs the economy grows and companies seek continued growth and prosperity, the people skills of the organisation become more and more critical to sustaining success. In this down to earth approach to evaluating needs analysis, we examine the importance of a proper organisational needs analysis incorporating training needs aligned to business strategy. Needs analysis methods are examined along with the needs analysis process and challenges. Key to success is the closing of the loop - integrating needs analysis, evaluation and business performance.

WORKSHOP 2Demystifying the Unit StandardGreg Gray, Managing Member, Gray TrainingMaster the analysis of unit standards and develop relevant outcomes-based training material and valid assessment instruments. Unit Standards ensure training standards but the way they are written often intrudes and makes them difficult to unpack. This practical workshop session will give you the techniques to unpack any unit standard and guarantee that you always have relevant training material and valid assessment instruments.

WORKSHOP 3Putting Learning on Fastforward: An Experimental Learning Design WorkshopKaren Gray, Director, Gray TrainingExperiential learning is a powerful training design in which learners are challenged to solve problems, research issues or figure out ways to accomplish a task by making the right mistakes to help them to learn effectively. For experiential learning to be successful, you need a rigorous design, sensitive facilitation skills, and the ability to let your learners stay in question long enough for learning to take place. All of these practical skills are covered on this workshop.

WORKSHOP 4The Nuts & Bolts of Using Coaching Skills in Mastering FeedbackMary-Joe Emde, CEO, Results Workplace Coaching SA (Pty) LtdWe give feedback on a daily basis using our brains programmed to focus on the 10% negative we see and observe, a “habit” that impacts greatly on our feedback techniques. For feedback to be productive and empowering we need to focus on creating a new skill and habit. By giving this new skill the attention it deserves your brain forms a new neuron pathway that enables you to give feedback in a very different and empowering way. In this workshop we utilise the brain based approach to coaching to teach you this new skill. Through Neuro Science we are able to identify and explain dysfunctional behaviour patterns to create new habits and behaviours in ourselves as well as those we are influencing.
