    AARP Oklahoma is teamng up with the U.S. SmalBusiness Admnistration (SBA) to host two entrepreneurworkshops next week in Tulsa as part of N ational EncoreEntrepreneur Mentor Month, a month set by AARP andSBA to encourage individuas over the age of 50 whowant to start or grow ther own business.

    "Many new entrepreneurs are saving ther best actsfor ther encore performance" sad SBA AdmnistratorKaren Mills. "They're using ther decades of expertiseand ther rolodexes to start new businesses and to finalypursue that venture that has been stirring ther dreams forall these years.

    The SBA and AARP are once agan focusing our ef-forts during Encore Entrepreneurship Mentor Month tohep transformthose dreams into a reaity."

    The Tulsa workshops are scheduled for April 10 at theHardesty Regiona Library, 8316 East 93rd Street. Twosessions, 10 a.m to 12 p.m and 1:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m,are available.A ttendees wil l hear from business experts about topicsranging fromwriting a business plan to seeking start-upcapita and learn about programs and resources avalablethrough AARP, SBA and other organizations. Speakersinclude successful entrepreneur Michae Barber, whonow serves as a procurement speciaist for the NationaCenter for American Indian Economc Deveopment, aswel as experts fromthe SBA and partner agencies.

    "AARP supports older Americans who want to pursueentrepreneurship as a means to generate income boostfinancia security and assist others in meeting needs,"sad Marjorie Lyons, AARP Oklahoma state president."AARP creates rea possibilities by connecting experi-enced workers with the practica information and guid-ance they need to start or grow a smal business."

    Mentor Month, which runs through April, is part ofa larger effort by AARP and SBA to provide resourcesto more than 100,000 entrepreneurs and smal businessowners over the age of 50 this year. The events will hepconnect encore entrepreneurs, and individuas interestedin becomng entrepreneurs, with mentors fromSBA'snetwork of Smal Business Deveopment Centers, Women's Business Centers, and SCORE chapters, who canhep throughout the life of an entrepreneur's business.

    Smal business ownership is a good option for manybaby boomers. One in four individuas between the agesof 44 and 70 is interested in becomng an entrepreneur,and 63 percent of Americans plan to work during retire-ment, according to the website www.encoreorg .
