1.0 SCOPE

This specification details the requirements for load-haul-dump vehicle buckets.

2.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS TO BE SPECIFIED BY THE PURCHASER

The following requirements shall be specified on every invitation to tender, contract or order:

2.1 Title, date, number and issue of this specification.2.2 LHD size (see Clause 4.2).

3.0 DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of this specification the definitions in SAE J73ID, SAE J742 and the followingdefinitions apply:

ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI : AngloGold Ashanti Limited

APPROVED : Approved by the Engineer in writing

AWS : American welding society

CONTRACTOR : The Company, partnership or person contractually obliged tosupply products or services to the Purchaser

ENGINEER : The Consulting Engineer, Consulting Mechanical and

Electrical Engineer of AngloGold Ashanti or their appointedrepresentative

LHD : Load-haul-dump

PURCHASER : The company or store designated as the recipient of finishedproducts or services

QUALITY ASSURANCE : An independent inspection agencyREPRESENTATIVE appointed by the Engineer

PURCHASER'S : A company, partnership or person authorisedREPRESENTATIVE authorised by the Engineer to act on the Purchaser's behalf

RATED STRUCK CAPACITY : The volume m3 enclosed by the interior (Volume) surfaces and a strike plane across the bucket width

RATED CAPACITY : The rated struck capacity m3 and an(Volume) additional volume m3 above the strike plane bounded by 2 : 1

slopes to all four bucket edges

4.0 REQUIREMENTS

4.1 Design

Buckets shall be designed to handle broken quartzite ore and permit loading on 32% grade(18°13') down attack angle.

4.2 LHD size

Shall be specified by the Engineer from Table I.

4.3 Bucket mass capacity

Capacity specified in Table 1 column 2 shall be determined with a broken ore volume ratio of 1,75 : 1.

4.4 Bucket volume capacity rating

Shall be determined in accordance with the requirements of SAE 742 and shall be the struckvolume and a heaped load with a 2 : 1 angle of repose.

4.5 Cutting edge

The bucket shall be provided with a weld-on, replaceable cutting edge of 'Apex 6' or equal andapproved material.

4.6 Welding

Welding shall comply with the requirements of AWS Specification D14.3.

4.7 Material

Buckets shall be manufactured from steel to SABS 1431 Grade 300WA.

5.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS

5.1 Quality management

The requirement of AngloGold Ashanti Quality System Procedure QSP 100 shall apply.

5.2 Deviations

The Contractor shall submit a Concession Request in accordance with AngloGold AshantiQuality System Procedure QSP 163 for each unavoidable deviation from this and relatedspecifications detailed in Appendix A, failing which the Contractor shall rectify the deviation. Thecost of such deviation shall be borne by the Contractor.
