secy, deputy secy,director and joint secy in the Ministry of Health
in Government of India. Also
served as secretary, commissioner and secretary and principal
secretary of
Health and Family Welfare in the state government. Was
consultant to
UNICEF and WHO for brief periods (three months each). Was also
associated
with the World Bank in preparing the World Development Report of
1993
which was on the subject Investing in health.
b) Worked in the Ministry of Defence, Dept of Defence
Production, Governmentof India. Was member Secretary of the Kelkar
committee which gave its
recommendations on the modification of defence procurement
procedures for
encouraging indigenous production of defence equipment. Was
also
government director on several defence PSUs.
c) Worked in the ministry of Coal as Additional Secretary,
Special Secretary andSecretary. Was on the board of Coal India Ltd
and Neyvelli Lignite
Corporation as government director.
