Press Release During my time as a student at Central Washington University, I took a position as Publicity Co-

Chair for the Kittitas County Relay for Life. Of course it was my responsibility to get the word out

about the Organization and its events. This was leading up to the end of the year relay which the

Relay for Life focuses on. Below is one of the Press Releases that was written.

FINISH THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

Kittitas County Relay For Life and their fighting spirit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Ellensburg, Wash.—The Kittitas County Relay For Life has moved its venue to the Tomlinson Stadium

track. For the past 26 years it had been held at the Ellensburg High School. Although the team has

changed its volunteers from time to time, they still have that fighting spirit.

“I feel very proud to be a part of this team,” says Event Co-Chair David Douglas. “Everyone has stepped

up their game each and every gathering and event.”

Relay is a great way to support the fight against cancer and a night filled with entertainment and family

friendly atmosphere. It is an overnight community fundraising walk where teams of people will camp

near the track and each member takes turns walking it.

The Relay For Life committee expresses their appreciation for the opportunities to host the event in

multiple locations. The Ellensburg Community has been phenomenal with helping put on this event and

fundraising. The committee is very excited to see past and future members be a part of the Kittitas Relay

for Life.

Please be sure to sign up if you haven’t already to join the fight against Cancer at

http://main.acsevents.org . There are currently 4 million participants in over 5,000 events across the

country helping finish the fight. It is a great way to be involved in the community for a great cause. The

Relay for Life committee looks forward to seeing you at Ellensburg High School on May 9, 2014.

### In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to

help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the

overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5

billion to fight cancer.

WEB MEDIA

While I was an Intern for the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Central

Washington University, one of my tasks was to update the department’s website. I was the first

intern to understand copywriting laws and implement getting permission before using photographs.

I personally went to professors around the campus who travelled to Latin America and gather

(with permission) photos for the site. The goal was to make the department look more appealing

and friendly. I used the schools web CMS (Content Management Software) to add them. The

second example also shows my addition of the Minor Program.

BLOG WORK While Working at Yurz…. I helped with blog research and development for their blog, Dream Casa. I was

given a topic, researched it, and then put it in blog format. I did not know how it would be used until it

was posted on the blog. The company weaved them in to a blog with other employee’s blog research.

I felt this would showcase my research and writing ability. Before each example, I will provide the web

address to that full blog. That way you will be able to see my section and how the company weaved it into

the final blog.

“I Can’t Get A Traditional Mortgage…What Are My Alternatives?”

http://dreamcasa.org/money-matters/mortgage-and-loans/i-cant-get-a-traditional-mortgage-what-

are-my-alternatives/

“See if you can get Seller Financing. Seller financing is a great way to skip the whole mortgage

approval process. However, it is quite difficult to get for the following reasons:

(1) The seller does not own the house outright, and for the seller to give you a financing option,

the seller must have paid off his/her mortgage in full.

(2) Most sellers do not want the hassle and additional risks of being a lender– even though they

could profit more by being the financier. With that being said, sellers don’t necessarily have to

be a lender. The seller can arrange to resell the promissory note to an investor.”

“Why Researching the Neighborhood Matters”

http://dreamcasa.org/real-estate-101/house-hunting/buying-home-neighborhood-matters/

“So you’re in the market for a home and you have a list of deal breakers: the house has to have the right

amount of square footage, enough storage space, and a nice backyard– but have you considered the

location of the home? Researching the neighborhood, of your potential new home, helps you to

protect your family’s lifestyle and safety. Here is the list of things to consider when researching the

location of your new potential home.
