Details of planned activities for the future
SPIE DCE Chapter is planning to conduct the following future
activities:
1. Visiting lectures on the topic related to Optics & Photonics at DTU
(Attendees: B. Tech (EP) & M. Tech (MOCE) student of DTU).
Target of attendees: 90 students.
2. Delivering lectures in the public and private schools & colleges on optics
to increase the awareness of light and light based technology (10, 10+2,
and B.Sc/B. Tech students)
Target of attendees: more than 1000 students.
3. Student summer/winter training and workshop on photonics at DTU (B.
Tech-EP -I year).
Target of attendees: 40 students.
4. Demonstration of scientific models related to the basic laws of optics &
photonics to the school students and spreading the information of
International Year of Light (IYL 2015).
(10, 10+2, B.Sc/B.Tech students)
Target attendees: more than 1000 students.
5. Joint SPIE-OSA activities to enhance the awareness of the function of
light and light based technology in our daily life to the public in rural and
urban areas. (Public)
Target Audience: more than 2000 audience.
Awards/Scholarship
1. Venus Dillu, Ph.D student has been awarded a 2014 Travel Scholarship in the amount
of $1500 by OSA foundation for attending “Siegman International school on Laser,”
August 3 – 8, 2014, Stanford University, Stanford, USA
2. Preeti Rani, Ph.D student has been awarded SPIE Chapter officer Travel Grant to
attend student leadership workshop 2014, August 16, 2014, San Diego, USA.
3. Preeti Rani, Ph.D student has won the second best prize in Optics Outreach Game
(OOG) for excellent presentation of chapter outreach activities, Optics & Photonic
2014, San Diego, USA.
4. Than Singh Saini, Ph.D student has won the SPIE-best paper presentation award at
ICOL- conference, IRDE, Dehradun, India.
5. Than Singh Saini, Ph.D student has been awarded a 2014 Travel Scholarship in the
amount of $2000 by OSA foundation for attending “Siegman International school on
Lasers,” August 3 – 8, 2014, Stanford University, Stanford, USA
6. Than Singh Saini, Ph.D student has been awarded a 2014 Travel Scholarship in the
amount of $2000 by SPIE–The International Society for Optics and Photonics for his
potential contributions to the field of optics & photonics on November 13, 2014
