SSI Bundle
• Appropriate antimicrobial prophylaxis
• No hair shaving, if needed, do it using a clipper as close
to the operative time as possible outside OR
• Normothermia
• Adequate oxygenation
• Optimal blood glucose control
• Surgical safety check list

Appropriate antimicrobial prophylaxis
• Indicates only in high-risk major surgery
– No need in superficial layer soft tissue biopsy
• Single dose cefazolin (1-3 g) given 15-60
minutes prior to surgical incision
• Additional dose @ 4 hour intra-op in case
of prolonged surgery or massive blood lost
