LA SETTIMANA DELLA COSTRUZIONE IN ACCIAIO
The XXIII Italian Congress on Steel Structures will be held this year in Naples, at Albergo della Regina Isa-bella (Lacco Ameno, Ischia). Two events are planned:
– The scientific Congress, which is more than 40 ye-ars old and represents an overwhelming ap-pointment for Italian experts, from both the Academy and profes-sional reality, to me-et and discuss during the biannual edition of the “week of steel constructions”.
– A special event titled “Steel Art Architecture”, which is dedicated to emphasize the important role of ste-el structures in mo-dern architecture and the strict connection with the realm of art. This event is addres-sed to both the Con-ference participants and others non-ex-pert people who may appreciate the poten-tialities of steel in Art and Architecture.
I am looking forward to meet you during the Con-gress. In the meantime, I shall work in cooperation with friends and colleagues from CTA to organize an excellent Congress inspired and characterized by the ancient Neapolitan hospitality.

Quest’anno la Scuola di Ingegneria della Università di Na-poli Federico II celebra il suo bicentenario. Per questa occa-sione il CTA, unitamente alla Facoltà di Ingegneria, organiz-za una giornata su: Acciaio, Arte, Architettura. Saranno in-vitate due eminenti personalità che mostreranno, rispetti-vamente nel campo dell’arte e dell’architettura, alcune re-alizzazioni caratterizzate da elevata complessità, rese pos-sibili grazie all’apporto della ingegneria. Il materiale accia-io infatti, unitamente alle sue doti intrinseche di “sosteni-bilità”, vanta straordinarie applicazioni in questi campi. Sa-rà sottolineato il ruolo della ingegneria, per rendere possi-bili le realizzazioni in acciaio sempre più complesse e “de-manding” richieste dagli ARTISTAR e dalle ARCHISTAR. So-no previsti interventi di critici e storici dell’arte e dell’archi-tettura per introdurre le due relazioni ad invito. La giornata si concluderà con la inaugurazione della mostra di opere in acciaio di arte ed architettura con forte contenuto tecnolo-gico ed ingegneristico.
This year the School of Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II, celebrates its bicentennial. Within this framework a day on Steel, Art, Architecture will be organ-ized. Two eminent personalities will be invited from the world of Art and Architecture who will show their works characterized by high level of complexities. Steel in fact, to-gether with its intrinsic “sustainability”, can exhibit extraor-dinary applications in the world of art and architecture. The role of engineering, needed to make possible the realiza-tions, more and more complex and demanding, requested by ARTISTAR and ARCHISTAR, will be discussed. Critics and historians of art and architecture will introduce the two in-vited conferences. At the end of the day an exhibition with works of art and architecture characterized by high com-plexity and strong technological end engineering content will be inaugurated.

The Conference fees include 150 € as cost for printing the Proceedings Volumes. Authors of papers to be prin-ted are kindly requested to pay those 150 € not later than 31.07.2011.
