CNCF in China• CNCF has grown from a few members in China in 2015 to more than 50

members in China in 2020.

• China is also the third-largest contributor to CNCF projects (in terms of contributors and committers) after the United States and Germany.

• CNCF now hosts four projects that were born in China and are more broadly used in the region:

– Graduated• Harbor – an open source trusted cloud native registry• TiKV – an open-source, distributed, and transactional key-value database

– Incubating• Dragonfly – an open source intelligent P2P based image and file distribution

system• KubeEdge – extends native containerized application orchestration and

device management to hosts at the Edge

● 49% of respondents use containers in production, with another 32% planning to do so. This is a significant increase from November 2018 when only 20% used containers in production

● 72% of respondents use Kubernetes in production, up from 40% in November 2018.

● The use of CNCF projects is growing exponentially.

CertificationsCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

• The CKA program provides assurance that CKAs have the skills, knowledge, and competency to perform the responsibilities of Kubernetes administrators.

Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)• The CKAD exam certifies that users can design, build,

configure, and expose cloud native applications for Kubernetes.

Both exams are online, proctored, performance-based tests that require solving multiple issues from a command line.

Almost 7,000 have PASSED CKAD

Provider (KCSP) program is a pre-qualified tier of vetted service providers who have deep experience helping enterprises successfully adopt Kubernetes.
