EXPERIMENT No.-2
AIM :- PROGRAM TO PLOT SWING CURVE OF A GIVEN POWER SYSTEM
BY STEP BY-STEP METHOD
SAMPLE PROBLEM:-
A 20 MVA,50 Hz ,generator delivers 18 MW over a double ckt. line to aninfinite bus.The generator has kinetic energy of 2.52 MJ/MVA at rated speed.The
generator transient reactance is Xd=0.35 p.u. Each transmission 20 MVA base E=1.1p.u. & infinite bus voltage v=1 p.u. on a 20 MVA base .A 3 short ckt. occurs at midpoint of one of transmission line .Plot swing curve with fault cleared by simultaneousopenings of breakers at both ends of the line at 2.5 cycles & 6.25 cycles after occurrence
of fault . also plot swing curve over the period at 0.5 sec., if fault is sustained.
THEORY:-
1) Numerical solution of swing equation by point to point method.2) Solve above problem in tabular form for different cycles as given in problem
using step-by-step method.
3) Write a program for above problem.RESULT:-
Analytical and graphical values are found out to be the same and correspondingswing curves are plotted.
DISCUSSION:-
1. Define stability?2. Compare different methods to determine Stability.

EXPERIMENT No.3
AIM:- PROGRAM FOR TRANSIENT STABILITY ANALYSIS BY MODIFIED
EULERS METHOD.
SAMPLE PROBLEM:-Synchronous machine shown in fig. is generating 100 MW and 75 MVAR,
voltage of infinite bus ,q is 1+j 0 and line reactance 0.08 p.u. .Inertia constant is 4 p.u. on a 100 MVA base .The machine transient reactance is 0.2 .
Calculate the changes in phase angle in speed of generator for a 3 to ground fault at bus
p for a duration of 0.1 sec. Using modified Eulers method ,Take time for solution =0.2
sec. With t=0.04 sec.,frequency 50 hz.

AIM :- TO STUDY THE TRANSIENT RESPONSE OF RLC SERIES CIRCUIT
USING MATLAB SIMULINK.

EXPERIMENT No:- 7
AIM: TO STUDY FERRANTI EFFECT USING MATLAB.
SAMPLE PROBLEM : A 3- , 50 hz transmission line is 400 km long. The voltage at
the sending end is 220 kv. The line parameters are r = 0.1250 / km ,x = 0.4 /km and g = 2.8*10
-6mho/km.Now if the line is open circuited with a
receiving end voltage of 220 kv, find the r.m.s. value and phase angle of following:-
a) The incident and reflected waves of voltages toneutral at the receiving end .
b) The incident and reflected voltages to neutralat 200 km from receiving end.

AIM:-To study transmission line model using MATLAB .
SAMPLE PROBLEM:-
A 50 Hz, Transmission line 300 km long has a total series impedance of 40+j1.25and a total shunt admittance of 10-3 mho .the receiving end load is 50 MW at 220 kv with
0.8 lagging power factor . Find the sending end voltage ,current ,power & power factor
using :-a) Shunt line approximation .b) Nominal method.
THEORY:-4) Brief description of MATLAB software.5) Types of Transmission line model.6) Advantages of using software for analysis.
PROCEDURE:-
4) Solve problem manually .5) By using MATLAB software feed the data of above

For the system shown compute bus voltage using Gauss Seidal iterative method. Assume
