Human Vision

Your Eyes and your brain

How does EyeTracking work

EyeTracking is based on infrared images

of the human eyes and mathematical

algorithms calculating the gaze vector.

Remote EyeTracker positioned below the screen

Head mounted Eye Tracker (Tobii Glasses)

What can EyeTracking be used for?

I) Advanced Human computer interaction: The eye gaze tells a computer what to do next.

II) A human is analyzed or diagnosed

Obvious Features With some additional Software

Where someone looks For how long Speed of Eye Movements Pupil Size Blinks Vergence … etc.

Drowsiness Reading analysis Did the reader understand? Has the viewer seen this image before Did the viewer understand a joke When exactly did the viewer solve the problem

Our Belief

There is hardly any faster and more unobtrusive way to get information about the brain than eye

tracking.

Open eyes are all that is necessary: No sensors to attach, no contrast media needed, no X-ray being

exposed to. It works across cultures and ages.

Huge medical diagnostic potential

During the last ten years eye tracking technology performance levels have increased while unit costs have diminished.

The price of a typical 60-120Hz remote tracker dropped from 20.000€ in 2011 to <200€ in 2015 while performance increased!

”TV watching” in the waiting room

Patients are free to watch this ”special TV” in the waiting room. Once they meet their Ophthalmologist/ Optometrist/ GP/ Neurologist/ Psychiatrist/ Psychologist he will have a short look at the results.

One day in the Future…

Watching a movie in the Ambulance

While patients are lying in an Ambulance they watch a movie in the car. When arriving at the hospital brain related issues are already ”pre diagnosed”.

We multiply Ophthalmologists/Optometrists by shortening examination times and

decentralized tests.

There is a critical need for action and investment in preventive eye health “With proper and effective attention, early screening, diagnosis and treatment, vision deterioration and loss no longer has to be a presumed condition of ageing”. IFA, Kathy Spahn, president and CEO

Irreversible blindness on the rise

Eye healthcare in troubles Long-term global trends:

▪ An aging global population; 58 million people turn 60 every year

▪ Chronic eye diseases needs to be discovered and monitored

▪ An expanding demand for quality services at low cost

▪ A need to deliver services more efficiently

▪ Shortage of ophthalmic providers

The global pain in Ophthalmic Healthcare Today:

Long waiting time for patients Some European countries have up to 12-14 months

Tomorrow: Growth of elderly will further increase queuing times

Number of Ophthalmologists is not increasing
