Hello Chino Hills High School Key Clubbers!
First and foremost, I would like to formally introduce myself as your new CHHS Key Club presi-
dent for the 2013-2014 term! Words cannot describe how honored and blessed I am to have this
chance to serve you. It feels so surreal even writing my first President’s note! As the new execu-
tive board and I become adjusted to our new responsibilities, we have all promised to do our ab-
solute best to lead this incredible club to new and improved heights.
Though there is a group of officers leading and making decisions for the club, it is truly the ef-
fort of all the amazing members that spend their leisure time serving others. This club is nothing
without your passion for service and your choice to make a difference in the world. I sincerely
hope that each of you know that you are a part of something much larger than just earning ser-
vice hours. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves!
To my new & wonderful executive board, I’m fall-
ing in love with each of you more and more each
day. Your hard work and spirit is inspiring. I have
full confidence that we will be extraordinary lead-
ers together! Please continue serving your home,
school, and community, Key Clubbers! Together,
we can prove to the rest of the world, that caring,
truly is our way of life!
Yours in service,
Sona Senapati
“A leader is one who sees more than others see, who sees farther than others see, and who
sees before others see.”

Hello Key Clubbers!!
Words cannot possibly describe how excited I am to start the
new 2013-2014 term. From what I’ve experienced these past
months with the new leadership board, soon to come AP Test-
ing, and above all, District Convention, there’s only one word
I can use and that is… HECTIC. Yet I am truly amazed with
all the dedication and time you all have contributed into ser-
vice. I’d like to congratulate all the seniors who have earned
their senior stoles and all of those who are reaching 50 hours
to become a Member of Good Standing. But with the school
year coming to an end, for Key Club it’s just the beginning,
and they say new beginnings await new opportunities. There are so
many service events and leadership opportunities ahead of us. I
can’t wait for Relay for Life, all the up-
coming DCM’s, training conferences
that we will come to encounter. I hope
this new Key Club year will bring us to
new heights and challenges, and with
the progresses I see in this club and each
KeyClubber out there, I believe we can
continue the legacy of a great club. Un-
til next time KeyClubbers!

2013-2014 Vice President

Upcoming Events and Reminders:

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk-
On April 27th, from 6-10am, our Key Club will be
volunteering and supporting the participants at this
charity event! Thanks to our support and many others
of the ”Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk”,
the American Cancer Society is able use the money
made to do the most in every community, including
ours, to help people with breast cancer . The Ameri-
can Cancer Society is constantly striving to find cures
to end the disease tomorrow. In this event, the mon-
ey gained is used in investing cutting-edge breast can-
cer research to find, prevent, and cure the disease.
Relay for Life-
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. Sometime in July of this year, we will able to be part of this event. This will be a great event because during the Relay, participants and survivors alike will cele-brate what they've overcome during the Survivors Lap. During the special Lumi-naria Ceremony, we will be able to re-member people lost to cancer, and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer. Be sure to mark this date on your calendar because this is definitely a big event for us!
End of the Year Ban-quet:- The end of the
year is quickly ap-
proaching and it is al-
most time for our Key
Club Banquet! The
Banquet will be on
May, 31st from 5:30-10pm at the beautiful McCoy
Equestrian Center. At the banquet, we will honor
those who have received the “Members of Good
Standing Award”, those seniors who have received
their graduation stoles, and the retiring senior offic-
ers. With delicious food, entertainment, and the re-
minder of the precious memories created over the
past year, this banquet will buzzing with fun!

Division 15 Ice Skating Fundraiser
Page 6
What isn’t better than meeting new Key Club-
bers while ICE SKATING and raising money
for a good cause? At the Ontario Center Ice
Arena on April 12th, officers and members
alike from division 15 showed their ice skating
skills off at this fundraising social. This fund-
raiser was put on by our school to raise money
to charter a Builders’ Club at Townsend Jr.
High School. Charting a Builders’ Club is a big
ordeal for our Key Club because it is through
this program that we are able to teach the
younger students at Townsend about the im-
portance of volunteering and the value of lend-
ing a helping hand to others as well as putting
them on the path to join our Key Club
in the future. This was personally an en-
joyable event for me and although it
took me awhile to learn how to ice skate,
I had a fantastic time. From the chance
to get to know our other fellow giraffes
to the actual ice skating, everyone who
attended had a great time. This fundrais-
er helped our club raise a substantial
amount of money to move us closer to
making our dream a reality.

Pet-co Bunny Adoptions:
Page 7
During the last few weeks of
March and the entire month of
April, many Chino Hills High
School Key Clubbers have been
hard at work volunteering at our
local Chino Hills Pet-Co every
Saturday. Even though Pet-Co
Bunny Adoptions is very different
from our usual events, it is a won-
derful way to earn hours and get-
ting to volunteer in a completely different environment
has taught us many new things. At first, it was quite diffi-
cult to learn all the specific ways to handle and care for
the bunnies in the utmost careful, attentive ways but we
were able to push right through it. With every meticulous
and gentle touch, we were able to get three bunnies adopt-
ed and we all had such a fun time doing it! This event just
proves to show how diverse Key Clubbers are. Those who
volunteered really showed their
dedication and passion for helping
out and making a change in the
world. Although we were not used
to helping animals, all the Key
Clubbers that volunteered did a
fantastic job and gave it their all!

Freshman Orientation:
Page 8
Freshman Orientation is by far one of my fa-
vorite events, because this when we have a
chance to express our Key Club spirit and love
for service. During the orientation, we sold
doughnuts and coffee to the students and par-
ents. We ended up fundraising a reasonable
amount of money to donate to Unicef and al-
so to help pay for our end-of-the-year-banquet.
Through this event, we’ve gotten over 120
sign ups, numerous interactions with incoming
student and parents, and the chance to wiggle
our booty shamelessly to 8th graders! Looking
through the number of signups this year, I am
very thankful of all the people who came to vol-
unteer and super excited for the upcoming year
Keep up the good work Key Clubbers!

Division 15 April DCM:
The first DCM of the 2013-2014 Key Club year
was held on April 20th, at the Sierra Vista Park in Upland. At this Division Council
Meeting, led by lieutenant governor, Amy He, each club from division 15 was able to
discuss their projects and goals for the upcoming year. Our president, Sona Senapati,
talked about our clubs’ main events, such as the recent Freshman Orientation and
ongoing Pet-Co Bunny Adoptions event. After a cou-
ple of fun (and quite challenging) icebreaker games,
the new division board was announced. This divi-
sion board assists Amy in raising money and plan-
ning events for the division . From our school, Jai-
hee Choi was appointed as one of the two executive
assistants, so be sure to congratulate her when you
get a chance. Also, our school was awarded as Club
of the month, which is a big honor, and something
that we should all be proud of. Good job to all our
Husky Key Clubbers for the hard work and dedica-
tion you have showed because it is truly making a
difference in the world.

Key Club Service Partners:

Unicef is an organization that works in partnership with Kiwanis Interna-
tional to aid children all across the globe– mostly in third world countries.
Currently, UNICEF, and Kiwanis International have joined hands in: The
Eliminate Project. A campaign that will go to 2015 and aims to eliminate
Maternal/Tetanus Tetanus across the world. Maternal/Tetanus is an infec-
tion that grows on open cuts and wounds during childbirth. Sadly, it not
only kills the newborn child, but the mother as well, each year claiming
the lives of 100,000 mothers and newborns. The deaths can be prevented by a single vaccine, produced in the U.S, but due
to a lack of healthcare, the individuals suffering do not have access to such a vaccine. The Eliminate Project funds money
to create more vaccines and distribute them to carious area to help save lives by sending them to hospitals to receive the
vaccination and increasing awareness of this disease and vaccination.
Children’s Miracle Network funds children's hospitals all across the nation.
The fun goes from everything to hospital maintenance to high-end tech-
nology to assure that children have the best treatment possible. One of
the nearest hospitals it funds is the children's hospital at UC Davis. CMN
works hand-in-hand with children's Miracle Net. Although it isn't given as
much attention as UNICEF and District charities such as the Pediatric Trau-
ma Program, Kiwanis and Key Club still support their innovation research.
March of Dimes is a charity that aids in the assurance of the
healthy and safe delivery of prematurely born children. Apart
form that, it also goes to fund various vaccines and medicines.
Part of the charity's success was the discovery of the Polio
vaccine. They also fund research of child development and
research to improve and aid women through pregnancy.
PTP is the Focus for both Key Club and Kiwanis of the Cali-Nev-Ha District. PTP works
towards raising funds for Pediatric Trauma, a branch of medical study that goes to-
wards child development, child psychology, child specialized care, etc. It also funds
toward Pediatrician in-training. The funds also go to run seminars, pamphlets, and to
the education of Bicycle Safety, Bicycle Safety Helmets, Booster Seats, Child Abuse
Prevention, Child passenger safety, Child safety, Child Safety Seats, Child Abuse Pre-
vention, Children's Miracle Network, Fire Prevention, First Aid and CPR, Injury Preven-
tion, Poison Prevention, Water Safely and much more.
