    A. Allswornanduniformedcivilianmembersarerequiredto:

    1. ownall prescribeduniformandequipment items for their rankor position asspecifiedbytheprovisionsofthisdirective.

    NOTE: Memberswill ownandmaintain all prescribeduniformandequipmentitemsthatwerethecurrentapproveditemsonoraftertheirdateofhirememberswillnotwearanyuniformorequipmentitemthatwasapprovedpriortotheirdateofhireandsubsequentlyreplacedbyamorecurrentitem.

    2. ifattired inuniformorcasualdress,wear theprescribedstar,name tag,unitdesignator,and rank insigniaon theiroutermostgarmentand inview to thepublic.Outermost garment includes uniform shirts, overshirt orMOLLE vestcarrier,uniformjacket,andfleecejackets.

    NOTE: Whenworn, all approved outermost uniform garmentswilldisplay theprescribed star, name tag, unit designator, andrankinsignia.

    NOTE: Uniformed civilian members who receive a uniformallowance are responsible for purchasing uniforms at theirown expense within two pay periods after employment.SpecificationsforuniformsandinsigniawillbedevelopedbytheResearch andDevelopmentDivision and distributed tolocalretailuniformestablishments.

    6. adhere to uniform/citizen's dress standards while appearing at dutyrelatedjudicialproceedings.

    a. Whenaswornmemberisattiredinuniformatthetimeofanarrest,thememberwillappearatrelatedjudicialproceedingsattiredinuniform.

    b. When a sworn member is attired in conservative business attire,casualdress,orcovertdressatthetimeofanarrest,thememberwillappear at related judicial proceedings attired in either uniform or

    conservative business attire as determined by themember's bureauchief.

    c. When a sworn member is subpoenaed to appear at dutyrelatedjudicialproceedingsbut isnot thearrestingofficer, themembermayappearattiredeitherinconservativebusinessattireoruniform.

    B. AdherencetoUniformStandards

    1. All supervisors have the responsibility and authority to ensure that uniformstandardsarestrictlyobservedbybothswornanduniformedcivilianmembers.Supervisors will direct members to replace items which do not meetspecifications or are worn beyond serviceability. Appropriate action will betakenwhenmembersfailtomeetuniform/citizen'sdressrequirements.

    2. Any uniform and/or equipment item is subject to inspection by supervisorypersonnel. Inspection of uniform apparel may include a visual inspection of"approved"ChicagoPoliceDepartmentgarmentlabels.

    C. SpecialEventsAuthorizationTheuniform forallswornmembersassigned tospecialeventsor formaloccasionswillbespecifiedby theofficerwho issues theorderestablishing theassignmentofpersonnel. Normally, the uniform will be the seasonally prescribed dress uniform.White glovesmay be specifiedwhenever the spring/fall or winter dress uniform isauthorized.

    D. AuthoritytoModify

    1. When uniform/equipmentmodifications are anticipated by bureau chiefs, theResearchandDevelopmentDivisionmayberequestedtoassistindeterminingfeasibility.

    2. Whenauniform/equipmentordressmodification isadopted,awrittenbureaudirective will be issued. A copy will be forwarded to the Research andDevelopmentDivision.Modificationsofcovertdressrequirementsformembersassigned to covert duties will not require the issuance of a written bureaudirective.

    3. Bureau chiefs may authorize the wearing of appropriate dress for specificmemberswithintheirrespectivebureaus.

    4. The Medical Administrator is authorized to allow exceptions to uniform andequipment requirements for medical reasons. Exceptions require a writtenauthorization. A copy will be retained in themember's Personnel File in themember'sunitofassignment.

    5. ItemsnotlistedhereinorauthorizedformodificationmaybeevaluatedbytheUniformandPersonalEquipmentPolicyCommitteeforrecommendationtotheSuperintendentofPolice.

    E. FormalDressPolicy

    1. TheFormalDressUniformistheClassAprescribeduniform,withblouse.

    2. Members required to wear Formal Dress Uniform for ceremonial or otherdesignatedoccasionswillnotwearsoftbodyarmor,afieldequippedutilitybelt,or carry a baton or handcuffs unless otherwise directed by an exempt orsupervisorymember.

    3. The blouse may be substituted by the reefer or overcoat with priorauthorizationandnotificationbytheSuperintendent.

    A. PostersdepictingChicagoPoliceDepartmentHaircutStandards formaleand femalepersonnel are located throughout the Department. These posters are offered as aguideforinterpretingtheprovisionsofthisdirective.Supervisorypersonnelconductinginspectionswillensurecompliancewiththesestandards.

    B. Onduty sworn and uniformed civilian members will be wellgroomed and meet thefollowingstandards:

    1. Headhairwillbeneatly trimmed,shaped,andarrangedandwillnot interferewiththeexternaldesignoftheuniformcap.Foreheadhair(bangs),ponytails,braids,etc.,willnotprotrude fromunder theuniformcap'sheadband.Abuntypehairstylemaybewornbelow theedgeof thecapandabove thecollar.The uniform capwill fit firmly and comfortably around the largest part of thehead.

    2. Amalemember'shairwillnotextendbelowthe topedgeof theuniformshirtcollar nor cover any part of the ear.A femalemember's hairwill not extendbelowthebottomedgeoftheuniformshirtcollar.

    3. Sideburnsorhairworn in frontof theearswillbeneatly trimmednotextendbelowthelowestpartoftheearnotbeflaredbeofevenwidthandendwithahorizontalline.

    4. Headhairwillnot beadornedwithany typeofornamentationnorbestyled,sculpted,orcarvedinradicalfashionssuchasmohawk,dreadlocks,punk,newwave,etc.

    5. Hair color will be limited to colors that are natural to the human species orconservativeartificialvariations.

    6. Hairpinsorbarretteswillnotbeconspicuous.Hatpins,exposedclips,andanyothertypeofornamentationisprohibited.

    7. Amember'sfacewillbecleanshaven.Mustachesarepermissibleandwillbeneatlytrimmedandnotbeexcessivelybushy,rolled,orcurled.Amustachewillnotextendbelowtheupperliporbeyondtheouterpointsofthemouth.

    EXCEPTION: UponwrittenapprovalfromtheMedicalAdministrator,beardsmaybeworn in accordancewith proceduresoutlined in the Department directive entitled "SkinConditionsAggravatedbyShaving."

    8. Awigorhairpiecewillconformtothesamestandardsasstipulatedfornaturalhair. The wearing of a wig or hairpiece to disguise normal appearance isprohibited.

    C. Cosmetics will be applied conservatively. Exaggerated, radical, or unusual cosmeticstylesareprohibited.

    D. Fingernails will not extend beyond the finger tips and will be kept clean. Fingernailcolors are limited to natural, clear, or conservative artificial tones. Multicolored orornamentallydecoratedfingernailsareprohibited.

    E. Forcivilianandswornmembers,tattoosandbodybrandingswillnotbevisiblewhileondutyorrepresentingtheDepartment,whetherinuniform,conservativebusinessattire,orcasualdress.

    1. Membersassignedtouniformdutywithtattoosorbodybrandingsontheirarmsorlegsthatarevisiblewhenwearingtheshortsleeveshirtorshortswillwearthe prescribed longsleeve shirt and long pants with appropriate neck wear,regardlessofseason.

    2. Membersassignedtoconservativebusinessattireorcasualdresswithtattoosor bodybrandingson their armsor legswillwear appropriate attire to covervisibletattoos.

    3. Memberswith tattoosorbodybrandingson theirhands, face,neck,orotherareanot coveredby a longsleeve shirt, longpants, or appropriateattirewillcover themwith amatching skin tone adhesive bandage or tattoo cover uptape.

    4. MembersassignedtocovertdresswilladheretostandardsapprovedbytheirbureauchiefconsistentwithitemXXIIofthisdirective.

    NOTE: Shortsleeve shirts worn with tattoo coverup arm sleeves areprohibited.

    F. Members may be allowed to deviate from the above standards with prior writtenauthorizationfromtheirbureauchief.Thewrittenauthorizationwillbeforwardedtothemember'sunitofassignmentandmaintainedinthemember'spersonnelfileacopywillalsobeprovidedtothestationsupervisor/designatedunitsupervisor.

    A. Uniform and personal equipment items are assigned a specification number. Eachspecification references the technical requirements of uniform and equipment itemsauthorizedforusebyDepartmentmembers.

    B. TheUniformandEquipmentSpecificationsshouldbeconsulted fordetailed technicalspecifications and additional information regarding authorizations and restrictions onuniformandequipmentitemsdescribedinthisdirective.

    C. The Uniform and Equipment Specifications can be accessed via the DepartmentDirectiveSystem.

    D. Should there be any contradiction in specifications between the Uniform andEquipmentSpecificationsandthisdirective,thisdirectivewilltakeprecedence.

    A. Departmentmemberswilluseand/ormaintainuniformandequipmentitemsprescribedfortheirrankorposition.

    1. Summer uniform garments and equipment will be worn/used from 1 Junethrough30September.

    NOTE: Uniformed members may choose to wear the long sleeveshirt, whichwill bewornwith appropriate neckwear.Whenthe short sleeveshirt isworn in conjunctionwithauniformblouse/coat/jacket,appropriateneckwearwillbeworn.

    2. Summerorwinteruniformgarmentsandequipmentwillbeworn/used from1Maythrough31Mayand1October through31October,dependingupontemperature.

    3. Winteruniformgarmentsandequipmentwillbeworn/usedfrom1Novemberthrough30April.

    4. The removable checkerboard cap band will be worn from 1 Novemberthrough30April.

    B. WeatherExceptionsforFieldUniformsSwornandUniformedCivilianMembers.

    1. The jacket, with appropriate neckwear, may be worn when the temperaturefallsbelow60degrees.

    2. A long sleeve shirt and necktie or long sleeve shirt and turtleneck/mockturtleneckmaybewornasanoutergarmentwhenthetemperaturereaches50degreesorabove.

    3. The trooper cap may only be worn when the temperature falls below 40degrees.

    4. Ashortsleeveshirt,opencollar,maybewornasanoutergarmentwhenthetemperaturereaches70degreesorabove.

    EXCEPTION: Members with tattoos or body brandings visible ontheir arms when wearing a shortsleeve shirt willconformtoItemIIIEofthisdirective.

    5. Thenylonmesh(ventilated)capisapprovedforsummeruseonly.

    6. Thesweatermaybewornasa fielduniformoutergarmentat themember'sdiscretion at any time of the year, unless the assignment of the member isgovernedbyadirectivewhichspecifiesarequireduniform.

    a. Whenwornasanoutergarment,thesweatermaybeworneitheropencollaredorwiththeappropriateneckwear.

    b. When the sweater isnotwornasanoutergarment, theappropriateneckwearmust beworn, i.e., a necktiewhenwornwith theClassBuniformoraturtleneck,mockturtleneck,ordickeywhenwornwiththeClassCuniform.

    7. Whenaturtleneck/mockturtleneckisworn,thetopbuttonoftheuniformshirtwillbewornunbuttoned.

    A. Spring/FallDressUniformSworn

    1. Unit commanding officers will conduct an annual formal inspection of thespring/fall dress uniform, including helmet, flashlight, personal aerosol OCchemical device and holder, rainwear, personal soft body armor, respirator,andIllinoisFirearmsOwnerIdentification(FOID)cardbetween1and10May.

    2. Unit commanding officers can verify the accuracy of a member's helmet

    3. Makeupinspectionswillbeconductedanddeficiencieswillbecorrectedwithin7daysoftheformalinspection,oruponthemembersreturnfromanabsence(medical,furlough,etc.).

    B. WinterDressUniformSworn

    1. Unitcommandingofficerswillconductanannualformalinspectionofthewinterdress uniform, including the items listed in Item VIA1 of this directive,between1and10November.

    2. Makeupinspectionswillbeconductedanddeficiencieswillbecorrectedwithin7daysoftheformalinspection,oruponthemembersreturnfromanabsence(medical,furlough,etc.).

    C. FieldUniformsSwornandUniformedCivilianMembers

    1. Stationsupervisors/designatedunitsupervisorswill:

    a. inspectuniformedmembersateveryrollcall.

    b. ensure that all members are properly and neatly attired with onlyDepartmentauthorizeduniformandequipmentitems.

    2. Deputy chiefs will make unannounced visits to roll calls at units within theirareastoobserveuniform/citizen'sdressinspections.

    3. Inspectors from the InspectionsDivisionwillobserve roll call inspectionsandreportanydeficienciesinaccordancewithexistingdirectives.

    D. SpecialEvents:Supervisorypersonnelwillinspectofficersundertheircommandatallspecialevents.

    A. Theuniformcapforthe:

    1. ClassAuniformis100%woolroundcrown.

    2. ClassBuniformistheroundcrown(yearround),nylonmesh(ventilated)cap(summeronly),orapprovedtroopercap(winter/temperatureappropriate).

    3. ClassCuniformistheroundcrown(yearround),nylonmesh(ventilated)cap(summeronly),ortroopercap(winter/temperatureappropriate).

    B. Thewoolroundcrowncapisauthorizedforwearwithbothdressandfielduniforms.

    C. Theclothroundcrown(Tactelnylon,Corduranylon,orAntronnylon,dependingupondateofhireandwinterjacket)isauthorizedforwearwithfielduniformsonly.

    D. Departmentmembersare required towear theappropriatecapwhenondutyunlessexigentcircumstancesexist.

    E. Departmentmembersarenotrequiredtowearacapwhen:

    F. Allroundcrowncaps,specializedcaps,andutilitycapswillonlybewornsothatthe:

    1. billfacesforward,

    2. sweatbandrestsagainsttheforehead,belowthehairline,and

    3. bottomedgeofthecapisthesameheightabovebothears.

    G. Thetroopercapwillonlybewornsothatthe:

    1. shieldfacesforward,

    2. bottomedgerestsagainsttheforehead,belowthehairline,and

    3. bottomedgeofthecapisthesameheightabovebothears.

    A. Shortsleeveuniformshirtswill be completely buttonedwith theexceptionof the topcollarbutton.

    B. Uniformshirtswillbe fully tucked into the trousersandwornso that theshirtbuttonsare:

    1. centeredonthefrontofthewearer,

    2. verticallyalignedwitheachother,and

    3. inverticalalignmentwiththezipperedflyoftheuniformtrousers.

    C. Theedgeof theuniformshirtsplacket(onthewearersrightside)willalignverticallywiththerightedgeofthebeltbuckleandtherightedgeofthezipperplacketcreatingaproper"gigline."

    D. Thesleevesofundershirtswillnotextendbeyondthesleeveoftheuniformshirt.

    E. NonDepartmentapproved turtleneck/mock turtleneck shirts, coloredundershirts, andshirtswith printedmessages/illustrationswhichmaybe seen throughauniformshirtareprohibited.

    F. Whenassignedtoadministrativeduties insideapolicefacility,regardlessofseasonaluniformrequirements,uniformedmembersmayweartheprescribedshortsleeveshirtwithoutanecktie.

    EXCEPTION: MemberswithtattoosorbodybrandingsvisibleontheirarmswhenwearingashortsleeveshirtwillconformtoItemIIIEofthisdirective

    G. Whenasweateriswornasanoutergarment,theuniformshirtmaybeworneitherwithappropriate neckwear or worn open collared as described in Item VB6 of this

    H. Members will not wear the embroidered star, nametag, and unit designator on theuniformshirt.

    A. When assigned to uniformed field duties, members will wear the equipment belt inconjunctionwiththetrouserbelt.

    B. Theequipmentbeltwillbewornsothat:

    1. itcompletelycoversthetrouserbelt.

    2. therightedgeofthebuckle(onthewearersrightside)isinverticalalignmentwiththerightedgeofboththeshirtplacketandthezipperplacket.

    3. theendofthebelt(tail),afterthebuckle,willnotextendlessthan1ormorethan5pastthebuckle.

    C. Formembers hired after 14 February 2012, aminimum of four belt keepers will bewornwiththetwobeltsystem:oneinfrontoftheholster,onebehindtheholster,onebehind themagazinepouchor speed loader pouch, andoneat thebackof thebeltsystem.

    D. Formembers hired before 14February 2012, it is recommended that aminimumoffour belt keepers be worn with the twobelt system: one in front of the holster, onebehindtheholster,onebehindthemagazinepouchorspeedloaderpouch,andoneatthebackofthebeltsystem.

    E. Sweaterswillbetuckedintothewaistbandofthetrouserorbloused.

    1. Thesweaterwillnotcoverorobscurethebeltoranyequipmentonthebelt.

    2. Thebeltwillnotbeworndirectlyoverthesweater.

    A. Memberswillonlywearapproveduniformtrouserswhenassignedtouniformedduties.

    B. Theuniformtrouserforthe:

    1. ClassAuniformisthe100%woolfourpockettrouser.

    2. ClassBuniformisthepolyesterblendfourpockettrouser.

    3. ClassCuniformisthepolyesterblendcargotrouser.

    C. Uniformtrouserswillnotbeblousedoveranyuniformfootwear.

    1. Departmentswornmembersof the rankofsergeantandabovewillwear theappropriate insignia of rank on their uniform outer garments, consistent withItemXICofthisdirective.

    2. Lieutenantsandabove:

    a. will always wear the miniature insignia on both collar points of theshortandlongsleeveduniformshirtandthefullsizeinsigniaonbothepaulets of all other outer uniformgarments excluding overshirt vestcarriers.

    b. may wear their insignia of rank using the embroidered optiondescribedinUniformSpecificationNo.060403.

    NOTE: The wearing of embroidered star, name tag, unitdesignation attached by hook and loop, backPOLICEpatch,andrank insignia isrequired if thememberwearsafleecejacket.

    B. Insigniaofrankareasfollows:

    1. SuperintendentofPolice4silvercoloredstars.

    1. Eachmember will be issued two unit assignment designators indicating themember'scurrentassignment(i.e.,district,bureau,oroffice).

    2. The unit assignment designator will be positioned so that it will be clearlyvisible below the member's nameplate. The combined nameplate/unitdesignatorwillbewornontheuniformoutergarment(exceptrainwear).

    3. A sworn member who is transferred to another unit will return Departmentissuedunitdesignatorstotheunitsecretaryoftheunitfromwhichthememberisbeingtransferred.Unitdesignatorswillbeissuedbytheunitsecretaryofthenewunitofassignment.

    4. Lost unit assignment designatorswill be replaced at themember's expense.Additionalunit assignmentdesignatorsmaybepurchased from localuniformretailers.

    5. Unit commandingofficerswillmaintain a sufficient supply of unit assignmentdesignators. Unit assignment designators may be requisitioned from theEquipmentandSupplySectionviaaMaterialRequisitionform(CPD34.622).

    A. The wearing of soft body armor, both the front and rear panels, by all swornmemberswhileintheperformanceoffielddutiesisMANDATORY.

    1. The Department will provide the first issue of soft body armor to all swornmembers.Thisequipmentisclassifiedasthemember'spersonalequipment.

    2. Individually,members are responsible for the care andmaintenance of theirpersonalsoftbodyarmor.Should this itembecome lost,stolen,damaged,orworn beyond serviceability, the individual officer will be responsible forreplacement.

    3. The chief of each bureau and the exempt commanding officer for each unitwithin the Office of the Superintendent and the Office of the First DeputySuperintendent will issue written directives which designate, by dutyassignment, whichmembers under their command are not required to wearsoftbodyarmor.

    4. Sworn members who are not required to wear soft body armor will have itreadilyavailableduringdutyhours.

    B. AuthorizedSoftBodyArmor

    1. SwornmembersareauthorizedtousesoftbodyarmorthatmeetsorexceedsballisticProtectionThreat Level II as prescribed in themost currentNationalInstitute of Justice (NIJ) standard. Soft body armor will contain amanufacturer'slabelattestingtoNIJcertification.

    2. Aswornmemberwillnotwearsoftbodyarmorwhichhassustainedtheimpactofagunshotorwhentheballisticpanelisripped,torn,punctured,creased,orotherwisedamaged.

    XII. SOFTBODYARMOR

    3. Authorized soft body armor will be constructed with aramid fibers, such asKevlar.BallisticpanelscontainingZylonfibersarenotauthorized.

    C. ReplacementofSoftBodyArmor

    1. A sworn member whose soft body armor is unavoidably damaged in theperformance of duty may seek the temporary loan of soft body armor bysubmitting a ToFrom Subject report directly to the Crime Prevention andInformationCenter(CPIC),addressedtotheFirstDeputySuperintendentandapprovedbythemember'sstationsupervisor/designatedunitsupervisor,alongwithcopiesofrelateddocuments.

    2. Amember issuedtemporaryreplacementsoftbodyarmorwillberesponsibleforthepropercare,laundering,maintenance,andreturnofthesoftbodyarmortoCPIC.

    3. TemporaryissueDepartmentsoftbodyarmorwillbereturnedtoCPICwithin14daysfromthedateofissue.Ifthemembermustretainthesoftbodyarmorfor more than 14 days, a ToFromSubject report requesting anextension,addressedto theFirstDeputySuperintendentandapprovedby themember's station supervisor/designated unit supervisor, will be submitteddirectly to CPIC. This report will contain an explanation of the need for anextension.

    4. With theapproval of theSuperintendent, theDepartmentwill arrange for thereplacementofanybodyarmorwhichsavedtheofficer fromserious injuryordeath,atnocosttothemember.

    D. During theDepartmentwinteruniform inspection,allswornmemberswillpresent thefollowingitemstotheirunitcommandingofficerforinspection:

    1. Both front and back ballistic vest panels, each exposed with appropriateidentificationpatchesattachedbythemanufacturer.

    2. Ballisticpanelcarrier.

    3. Approvedovershirtvestcarrier,ifused.

    E. Theunitcommandingofficerwillinspecteachmembersballisticpanelstoensuretheymeet uniform specifications.Memberswho present panels that do notmeet uniformspecifications will be advised to replace such panels with panels that conform toDepartmentspecifications.

    A. Thepolyester/cottonballisticpanelcoverwillnotbewornexposed.

    B. Theovershirt vest carrierwill beworn over the uniform shirt andmaybeworn yearround.

    C. Theapprovedblackovershirtvestcarriermaybewornovertheapprovedsweaterwiththefollowingrestrictions:

    NOTE: All Cordura overshirt carriers purchased on or after theeffective date of this directive will display the embroideredstar,nametag,unitdesignationattachedbyhookandloop,andback"POLICE"patch.

    2. MOLLEOvershirtCarrieracarrierthatallowsfortheattachmentofMOLLEcompatiblepouches.TheMOLLEovershirtcarrier:

    a. willbeblackincolor,

    b. willbemadeofCorduranylon,

    c. maybewornasanoutergarmentwhentheshirt isauthorizedasanoutergarment,

    d. may only be worn with the Class C uniform as described in theDepartmentdirectiveentitled"UniformClassifications,"and

    e. mayonlybewornwithballisticnylondutygear.

    NOTE: MOLLEovershirt carrierswill display theembroidered star,nametag,unitdesignationattachedbyhookand loop,andbackPOLICEpatch.

    3. BusinessAttireCarrieracarrier thatresemblesaconventionalvestwhichmaybewornwithasuitorsportcoat.Thebusinessattirecarrierwillbeofacolor and fabric which is compatible with conservative business attire. Thiscarrier is authorized for use by members authorized to wear conservativebusinessattireasdefinedinthisdirective.

    NOTE: Any blue or whitecolored soft body armor carrier purchased andwornpriorto18October2010willremainapprovedforthelifetimeof

    A. Swornmembersarerequiredtopossesahelmet,faceshield,andcarryingbagandtohavetheseitemsreadilyavailableatalltimes.

    B. Sworn members are responsible for the care and maintenance of the helmet, faceshield,andcarryingbag.

    C. If the helmet is lost, stolen, or damaged, the member will submit a copy of theappropriatecasereportandotherapplicablereportstotheirunitcommandingofficer.

    D. Thehelmetwillbewornwhen:

    1. operatingamotorcycleorPoliceAllPurposeVehicle(PAPV).

    NOTE: An alternate Departmentissued vehicle use duty helmetmay be worn at the direction of the appropriate unitcommanding officer provided its certified protectionconformstoFMVSS218(D.O.T.).

    A. The prescribed flashlight , auxiliary flashlight , and optional flashlight holder willconform to the specifications described in the uniform specification entitledFlashlights.

    B. The prescribed flashlight will be carried by all uniformed Department membersassignedtofieldduties.

    C. Uniformed members assigned to field duties may carry an auxiliary flashlight inadditiontotheprescribedflashlight.

    D. Members assigned to casual, conservative, or covert dress may carry an auxiliaryflashlightinlieuoftheprescribedflashlight.

    F. Flashlights are prohibited for use as an attachment to or designed to attach to animpactweapon.

    H. Pistolmounted lights are authorized under the Department directive entitledSemiautomaticPistolMountedLights.

    A. TheBDUandRiotControlKitequipmentaredescribedinUniformSpecificationsNo.U060306andU060305,respectively.

    B. BDUsand/orriotcontrolkitequipmentwillonlybeworn:

    2. unauthorizedmodificationofDepartmentequipment.

    3. the exchange or loan of the prescribed star/badge, cap shield, and/or unitassignmentdesignator.

    C. Procedurespursuanttodeath,separation,termination,suspension,leaveofabsence,changeofassignment,ortransfertothedisabilitypensionrollsareasfollows:

    1. Individual members are responsible for the prompt return of all Departmentpropertyincluding,butnotlimitedto,Departmentphotoidentificationcard,star/badge,capshield,helmet,baton,unitassignmentdesignator,andgasmask(ifissued).

    2. Ifasuspension, leaveofabsence,or transfer to thedisabilitypensionrolls isknown or anticipated to be longer than 30 days, or if a member is to beseparated or terminated, the affectedmember's unit commanding officer willensure the prompt return of all Departmentissued items to the Director,HumanResourcesDivision.Theunitcommandingofficerwillalsoforwardtheaffected member's personnel records and final paycheck to the HumanResourcesDivision,unlessotherwisenotified.

    3. Incaseofdeath,thedeceasedmember'sunitcommandingofficerwillensurethe prompt return of all Department property and the member's personnelrecordstotheHumanResourcesDivision.Themember'sfinalpaycheckwillberetainedintheunitforfourdayspendingthereturnofallDepartmentproperty.If all items are not returned, the paycheck will be forwarded to the HumanResourcesDivision.
