more than just a starting point

for cruises…

Step ashore in Montréal, an island gem in the mighty St. Lawrence River, and discover the city’s signature blend of European charm and exciting urban vibe. Montréal is compact, safe and pedestrian-friendly, so getting from the Montréal Cruise Terminal to your hotel is quick and easy. Plus, you’ll find a wealth of historic sites, major attractions, activities and countless restaurants and shops all along the way.

Many cruise lines use Montréal as a starting or ending point for their itineraries along the St. Lawrence River. The city’s cosmopolitan character can be seen in its multicultural population of 3.7 million people, representing more than 80 cultural groups. Montréal is the world’s second-largest French-speaking city after Paris, and you’ll hear conversations sprinkled with English, French and many other languages as well. And, of course, Montréal is famous for its warmth and openness. Montrealers are easygoing and friendly, and they love to welcome visitors to their city.

montréal:one day is never enough!

From historic Old Montréal to the trendy Plateau to the hip and happening downtown core, there’s so much to explore in Montréal that one day is never enough. Plan to stay over for a few days just before or after your cruise to get out and mingle with the locals and discover the many charms of this safe and walkable city.

treat yourself to something specialFrom famous upscale brands to trendy local designers, Montréal is a treasure trove of fashion, antiques, home decor, jewelry, trinkets and original gifts. From downtown chic to neighborhood niche, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your inner shopper.

take in a showAny time is show time in Montréal. Take your pick of modern or classical dance, opera, symphony, theater, circus arts, rock concerts, cabarets and more. Then there’s jazz, comedy, fireworks, film, tango, fringe theater, and fine cuisine: Montréal has a festival for almost anything you can think of. There’s always something going on and the party is open to all.

savour life’s pleasuresWhen it comes to food, Montréal is the city of indulgence. With more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in North America offering everything from haute cuisine to Montréal’s famous poutine, resisting temptation is simply futile.

lose the scheduleHappy hour at 5? Concert at 8? Dinner at 11? Follow it up with casino night or maybe a live music venue, cool lounge, hot club, trendy after-hours party—or all of the above. And don’t forget the 5 a.m. breakfast to keep you going!

go for a strollCompact and safe, Montréal is made for walking. Stroll back in time along the cobblestone streets of Old Montréal, make time for playtime with the family at the Quays of the Old Port or discover the world of art, history or science at one of the city’s many museums.

get a breath of fresh airWith 560 kilometres (350 miles) of bike paths, a great water playground called the St. Lawrence River, 1,000 parks, 12 golf courses within 20 minutes of downtown and a mountain right in the middle of the city, Montréal makes it easy to enjoy the great outdoors.

let your spirit soarKnown as the “City of a Thousand Spires”, Montréal has a rich religious history that will surround you from the moment you step ashore in Old Montréal. Start with the Notre-Dame Basilica, the fabulously ornate Gothic Revival masterpiece. Just next door is the Saint-Sulpice Seminary, the oldest building in Montréal, dating from the 1600s. Then turn your gaze skyward and head up to the majestic St. Joseph’s Oratory, perched on the slopes of Mount Royal.

come as you are A premier gay and lesbian tourism destination, Montréal has a vibrant LGBT community and an open and welcoming local population. Activities abound all year long, but summer really heats up with Divers/Cité (late July to early August), the LGBT arts and music festival in the Old Port, and the Montréal Pride festival (mid-August) in Montréal’s legendary Gay Village.

Kick back and relaxGrab a seat on an outdoor patio or at a trendy wine bar. Order a café au lait or Sauvignon Blanc. Watch the beautiful people go by. Chat up your neighbor. Order dessert. Chat up your other neighbor. Repeat as desired. 05cruisesalamontreal.com

improved terminal services

When you disembark at the Montréal Cruise Terminal, you’ll find a large and welcoming area with spectacular views of the city and the St. Lawrence River.

Thanks to a 2013 facelift, the main Montréal Cruise Terminal building is able to expand the reception area on days when the port is receiving more than one ship at a time. Turnaround passengers will find the space much more pleasing than before.

Throughout the season, reception and in-formation services are available at the main terminal, ensuring you begin an excellent stay in Montréal from the moment you step off your ship.

And now, you’ll be on your way faster than ever. Passengers go through Customs at the first port of arrival in Canada. That means you won’t have to go through the process in Montréal, speeding up disembarkation. Speed, efficiency and unforgettable experi-ences – that’s Montréal!
