    The images or mu sic of a DVD are divided into some un i ts, among w hicht i t le is the biggest one.When playing a DVD, the movie is the t i t le.When playing a CD, the combined t racks make up the t i t le.

    I t is smal ler than t i t le among the uni ts of a DVD. A t i t le is m ade upof several chapters , and each chapt er h as a num ber for search. Butsome discs may not have numbered chapters.

    The menu pictures, motion and motionless pictures of a CD or something discsw ith PBC function can b e divided in to som e parts, these parts are scenes. Eachscene has a num ber for search.

    SECURITY

    BEFORE OPERATION

    Before operation, check if the voltage of the unit is in l ine w ith the local voltage. Hold the plug to disconnect i t f rom the mains out let . Do not pul l the pow er cord.

    When the plug of th e unit is connected to the mains outlet , the unit wil l be sti l lconnected to AC even if the pow er is turned off.

    Disconnect the plug as soon as l iquid or objects enter the unit. The unit can notbe used unti l being checked by experts.

    Do not open t he cabinet as laser rays employed by the unit m ay damage eyes.Any servicing should be do ne by q ualif ied service personnel.

    PLACEM ENT

    Put the uni t w here vent i lat ion is good enough to prevent overheat ing.

    Never put the uni t in di rect sunl ight or near heat sources. Put th e uni t horizontal ly, never put any heavy object on the uni t .

    To protect the pickup, do not put t he uni t w here there is dust . If there is duston the pickup, use a cleaning disc to clean it. Paying particular attention to theoperating instructions of the cleaning disc.

    CONDENSATION

    M oisture will appear on th e pickup lens in the follow ing cases:

    The unit is suddenly moved from a cold place to a w arm place.

    The unit is put in a room w ith a heater, or in cold air from an air-conditioner.

    Using the unit in a humid place. In these cases, the unit can not w ork. Unload the

    disc and leave the unit on fo r about on e hour to evaporate t he moisture.

    CLEANING

    Use a sof t cloth w i th a l i t t le neutral detergent to w ipe the cabinet , panel andcontrols.

    Never use abrasive paper, polishing powder, solvent l ike alcohol or gasoline.

    To keep the disc clean, do not touch the playsides of the disc. Do not a t tach paper or tape to the d isc. Keep the disc aw ay f rom direct sunl ight or heat sources. Store the disc in a disc case af ter playback.

    Before playback, wipe the disc outw ards f rom the centre w i th clean cloth. Do not use any type of solvent such as thinner, benzine, commercial ly

    available cleaners or antistat ic spray.
