    Dear aditi,

In view of your expertise I would be very grateful if you could review

the following manuscript which has been submitted to World Journal of

    Microbiology and Biotechnology.

    Manuscript Number: WIBI5460

Title: Analyzing the microbial diversity and multidimensional

    interactions in the rice ecosystem

Abstract: The sustainability of the rice production systems globally

over long periods of time is intricately related to the chemistry,

physics and biology of rice soils - with basic properties differing

considerably in wet/dry land soils or in tropical/temperate areas or

even between the surface/ rhizosphere niche of the field. Rice fields

represent an unique aqua-terrestrial ecosystem in which the tremendousdiversity of soil microbes, soil fauna and plants - ranging in

function from nitrogen fixers, nitrifiers, pathogens, methanogens,

methanol oxidizers, phosphate dissolving microbes, sulphur oxidizers

to catabolizers of pesticides is observed. This diversity is inclusive

of bacteria, cyanobacteria, archaea, planctomycetes and

Betaproteobacteria, besides the increasing members of endophytes

associated. The complexity and dynamic nature of this ecosystem

requires nano-level investigations of the tripartite interactions

among plants, microbes and soil-water environment and

the ecological compartmentalization as a result of diffusion gradients

of nutrients and gases. In the current scenario of depleting soil

fertility and need for enhancing crop yields, it has become imperative

to understand the structural and functional commonalities which

underlie resource exchange mediated by microorganisms and the

interactions at the inter/intra community and plant-microbe levels.

The proposed compilation aims to provide an overview of the

interactions of the microflora with crop, with emphasis on the

rhizosphere, so as to develop effective and efficient nutrient and

pest management strategies for this crop.
