COURSE DESIGN
COURSE TITLE : DECK SEAFARNG (BOSUN)
NOMINAL DURATION : 88 hours
QUALIFICATION LEVEL : NC III
COURSE DESCRIPTION :
This course is designed to equip individual with operational skills, knowledge andattitudes of Deck Seafaring NC III in accordance with industry standards. It covers corecompetencies such as perform marlinespike and canvass work; perform mooring /unmooring operations and perform supervisory functions.
To obtain this, all units prescribed for this qualification must be achieved.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :
This section specifies the qualification of trainees and educational experience. Otherrequirements like health and physical requirements are also stated. Passing entry writtenexaminations may also be indicated if necessary:
Must be at least High School Graduate/BSMT/AMT; 18 years old and above;
Must have at least 2 years sea service as Able-Bodied Seaman (AB)
Must have completed a course on Ratings forming part of navigational watch from
accredited training centers of TESDA / MTC
Must have undergone a training course in General Tanker Familiarization
Must have a good moral character
Must have past the medical examination for eyesight and hearing as per TESDA Board
Resolution No. 2002-21
Must be physically and mentally fit as per STCW 95

Must be at least a graduate of BSMarE/ BSME or must be a graduate of Seafarer Rating
Course and a holder of Master Fitter / Welder / Machinist National Certificate III; and
Must have at least a total of two(2) years sea service experience as Machinist / Welder /
Fitter; or
Must have at least a total of five (5) years sea service experience in the engine
department Must be physically and mentally fit as per STCW 95

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Search and carried out according to assignment instructions2. Justification for search of persons property clearly established having regard to
the company policy3. SOPs in checking entry of incoming / outgoing deliveries, bodily search, luggage,
baggage, bags and parcels implemented in accordance to company policies andregulations
4. Questionable items found during search are dealt with according to the companypolicies
5. Request to s
