PLB120005 Dolina Dolnej Skawy
> Obszar ten obejmuje największe komplek-
sy stawów na Ziemi Oświęcimsko-Zatorskiej:
Spytkowice, Przeręb, Bugaj i Stawy Monowskie
Obecnie
prowadzona jest tu intensywna hodowla ryb,
ale wiele zbiorników jest mocno zarośniętych
roślinnością wodną. W ostoi znajdują się żwi-
rownie z wyspami, chętnie zasiedlanymi przez
ptaki. Występuje tutaj co najmniej 17 gatunków
ptaków z Załącznika I Dyrektywy Ptasiej, dla któ-
rych wyznacza się ostoje sieci Natura 2000 oraz
7 gatunków z Polskiej Czerwonej Księgi Zwierząt
(PCKZ). Stawy te to jedno z nielicznych w Polsce
stanowisk lęgowych podgorzałki. Lęgną się tutaj
również inne gatunki zagrożone w Europie: mewa
czarnogłowa, rybitwa białowąsa (PCKZ), rybitwa
rzeczna, bąk (PCKZ), bączek (PCKZ), kropiatka, zie-
lonka (PCKZ), rybitwa czarna oraz podróżniczek.
> Dolina Skawy, na odcinku od Graboszyc do
ujścia do Wisły, należy do jednych z najbardziej
malowniczych zakątków Ziemi Oświęcimsko-Za-
torskiej. Mimo, że silnie przekształcona przez czło-
wieka, zachowała w wielu miejscach układy zbli-
żone do naturalnych, bogate w gatunki rzadkie
i chronione. W zachowanych fragmentach lasów
łęgowych w drzewostanie oprócz wierzb, topoli
czarnej spotkać można również olchę szarą. W ru-
nie na wielu stanowiskach masowo występuje
chroniona paproć – pióropusznik strusi. Charakte-
loniach. Natomiast żwirowe plaże zasiedlają sie-
weczki rzeczne i piskliwce.
PLH120084 Wiśliska
> Obszar obejmuje system trzech starorze-
czy rzeki Wisły (tzw. wiślisk). W skład systemu
wchodzą wiślisko Miejsce, Oko i Krajskie. Zbior-
(pływających i zanurzonych). Z ciekawszych ga-
tunków można wymienić Grzybienie białe, Grążel
żółty, Rdestnica połyskująca, Rdestnica stępiona,
Wywłócznik kłosowy. Obszar grupuje największe
i najlepiej zachowane starorzecza w wojewódz-
w licznych konkursach. W 2011 roku karp zatorski wędzony został wpisany przez Ministra Rolnictwa
i Rozwoju Wsi na Listę Produktów Tradycyjnych, a karp zatorski został zarejestrowany w Unii Europejskiej
jako chroniona nazwa pochodzenia.

> Dolina Karpia to atrakcyjny turystycznie
i przyrodniczo obszar siedmiu gmin położonych
w Małopolsce, w powiatach oświęcimskim oraz
wadowickim. W jego skład wchodzą gminy: Brzeź-
nica, Osiek, Polanka Wielka, Przeciszów, Spytkowi-
ce, Tomice i Zator. Dolina Karpia obejmuje teren
historycznego zagłębia hodowli karpia i rozciąga
Dolina
Karpia jest idealnym miejscem wypoczynku nad
kompleksami stawów rybnych, jak również do-
skonale nadaje się do uprawiania turystyki ak-
tywnej, co umożliwia m.in. gęsto usiana sieć szla-
ków rowerowych. Stawy karpiowe to wymarzone
i europejskiej. Występuje tu największe w Polsce
lęgowisko ślepowrona, faunistycznego symbolu
Doliny. Na części obszaru utworzono dwie ostoje
Europejskiej Sieci Ekologicznej Natura 2000.
> Dolina Karpia to również obszar o wybitnych
walorach kulturowych. Wędrując po Dolinie Kar-
pia nie można pominąć zabytków Szlaku Archi-
tektury Drewnianej oraz Szlaku Zabytków Ziemi
Oświęcimskiej. Atrakcją regionu jest również
Zatorland – Park Ruchomych Dinozaurów, Park
Mitologiczny, Park Owadów, a także Park Św. Mi-
kołaja. Warto zwrócić uwagę na organizowane
plenery artystyczne. Ważnym wydarzeniem jest
Festiwal Doliny Karpia (w tym Święto Karpia w Za-
torze) – cykl letnich imprez plenerowych, podczas
których można nabyć produkty lokalne, przede
wszystkim znakomite dania rybne, przyrządzane
w okolicy na więcej niż 150 sposobów! Turystów
przyciągają również stoiska z rękodziełem regio-
nalnym i wiele atrakcji artystycznych.
> Dolina Karpia to obszar o wybitnych walorach
przyrodniczych i kulturowych, stanowiący do-
no dla miłośników przyrody, amatorów turystyki
aktywnej, jak również dla osób szukających ciszy
i odpoczynku.
> Stawy Rybne w Dolinie Karpia <
> Stawy karpiowe, charakterystyczne głównie
dla Europy środkowo-wschodniej, są środowi-
skiem bardzo specyficznym, stworzonym i utrzy-
mywanym przez człowieka. Zbudowane w celu
ostoi ptaków i roślin. Kompleksy stawowe należą
do najstarszych i jednych z największych w na-
szym kraju ośrodków hodowli karpia. Łączna po-
wierzchnia stawów wynosi około 2000 hektarów.
Do najciekawszych kompleksów należą: Przeręb,
Spytkowice, Bugaj oraz Rudze. Największym
zbiornikiem, o powierzchni 78 ha, jest Pilawa znaj-
dująca się w gospodarstwie rybackim Przeręb.
Jest to jednak wyjątek, ponieważ powierzchnia
lustra wody zdecydowanej większości tutejszych
stawów nie przekracza 40 ha. To właśnie z tego
terenu pochodzi słynny karp zatorski. Na terenie
Doliny Karpia hodowla ryb od wieków prowadzo-
na jest w sposób tradycyjny, jedynie drewniane
wozy i konie zostały zastąpione przez ciągniki.

Spytkowice, Przeręb, Bugaj and Manowskie Ponds
as well as the Skawa River Valley. Fish farming has
been run here since 13th and 14th centuries. Al-
though currently it is run on a large scale, many
ponds are thickly grown with water plants. The
whole sanctuary is spotted with innumerable
gravel-pits with bird-inhabited isles. Attachment
1 of the Bird Directive lists bird species which re-
quire the establishment of bird sanctuaries within
the frames of the Natura 2000 project, of which as
many as seventeen nest in the region. Addition-
ally, seven species nesting in the valley are listed
in the so-called Polish Red Data Book of Animals
(PRDBA). The ponds make one of the few Polish
nesting sites of Erroginous Duck, the species
considered endangered all over the world. Oth-
er bird species, endangered in Europe, also nest
here, among them: Night Heron, Mediterranean
Gull, Whiskered Tern (PRDBA, the most numerous
site in Poland), Bittern and Little Bittern (PRDBA),
Black-necked Grebe, Purple Heron, Spotted Crake,
Little Crake (PRDBA),Red-crested Pochard, Black-
tailed Godwit, Black Tern, Common Tern and Blue-
throat.

> The Skawa Valley in the stretch between Gra-
boszyce and where it joins the Vistula River is one
of the most scenic parts of the Oświęcim – Zator
Area. Despite extensive man-made changes, the
valley has maintained its nearly natural character
at many sites and it is abundant with rare and pro-
tected species. In the tree stands in the preserved
fragments of riparian forests you can find not only
willows and black poplars but also Gray Alder. Nu-
merous small water bodies located along the riv-
er, which are often remains of uncontrolled gravel
output, are a characteristic elements of the val-
ley. Now they are the habitat of amphibians and
beavers. The river bed has generally maintained
its original character. Steep river banks are inhab-
ited by Sand-Martins, which nest here in quite
large colonies. Graveled beaches provide home
for Little Renged Plovers and Common Sandpi-
pers. The area is formed by the system of three
old river beds: Miejsce, Oko and Krajsie. The water
bodies are partly connected with each other and
the river bed Miejsce is connected to the Vistula
River. All the three river beds are typically shaped
mature water ecosystems. Plant cover is best
preserved in the river bed Miejsce. In the old riv-
er beds we can distinguish vegetation zones on
different depths (distance from banks). Marsh
plants (rushes) as well as typical communities
of water plants (floating and immersed) are par-
ticularly well developed. We can find here some
interesting plant species eg. European White
Waterlily, Yellow Waterlily, Shining Pondweed,
Blunt-leaved Pondweed and Eurasian Watermil-
foil. The area is exceptional because we can find
there the largest and best maintained old river
beds in Małopolskie Voivodeship.

<> The Carp Valley is an attractive area from both
the naturalist and touristic point of view. It is lo-
cated in Małopolska in the districts of Oświęcim
and Wadowice and consists of seven communes:
Brzeźnica, Osiek, Polanka Wielka, Przeciszów,
Spytkowice, Tomice and Zator. The Carp Valley
covers the historical fish-farming area spreading
for hundreds of hectares along the valleys of the
Vistula and Skawa Rivers. It is well approachable
as it is situated near the route connecting region’s
most important cities among others Katowice
and Kraków (which are the voivodeships’ capitals)
as well as common tourists destinations such as
Oświęcim, Wadowice, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska
and Lanckorona. The Carp Valley is an ideal place
for recreation. It is also well suited for active tour-
ism as it has a large net of cycling trials. Carp
ponds are a dream place for nature lovers, provid-
ing habitat for numerous fauna and flora species,
many of which are endangered in the scale of the
country. What is more, local Black-crowned Night
Heron nesting site is the largest in Poland. That’s
why this bird is a fauna symbol of the Valley. In the
part of the area two sites of European Ecological
Net Natura 2000 have been established.
> The Carp Valley is also an area of great cultural
value. Visiting the Carp Valley you can’t miss his-
torical monuments of the Wooden Architecture
Trail and the Trail of Oświęcim Land Monuments.
There are also another attractions: the Zatorland,
which is a moving dinosaurs park, the Mythologi-
cal Park, the Insects Park and the Santa Claus Park.
It is worth to pay attention to artistic plain-airs
organized in the area. The Carp Festival with the
Carp Day is also an important event. The festival
is a series of open air events where you can buy
local products among which you can find deli-
cious fish dishes prepared in more than 150 ways!
Tourists may also be attracted to stands with
handicraft and numerous tourist attractions.
> The Carp Valley is an area of great natural and
cultural values making it an excellent tourist des-
tination. Everyone can find here something for
themselves – it’s an ideal place for both nature
lovers and active tourists as well as for those who
enjoy peace and quiet.
> Fish Ponds in the Carp Valley <
> Carp ponds, characteristic mainly for the Cen-
tral-Eastern Europe, provide highly specific en-
vironment as they have been created and main-
tained by humans. Established for fish breeding,
they are shallow (ca. 1.5 m), their bottoms are
leveled and a little leaning so as to make gravita-
tional water removal possible. Water is delivered
and removed by systems of ditches. Broad wa-
ter areas, fish abundance and over 700 years long
existence make them one of the most important
bird and plant habitats. The pond complexes are
among the oldest carp farming centers in Poland
and their total area is ca. 2000 hectares. The most
interesting complexes are Przeręb, Spytkowice,
Bugaj and Rudze. The largest water reservoir is Pi-
lawa with surface of 78 ha, located in fish breed-
ing farm Przeręb. However, Pilawa is an exception
as water lever surface of the majority of ponds
does not exceed 40 ha. In the Carp Valley fish
farming has been run for ages in traditional ways,
the only thing that has changed is that horses and
wooden carts have been replaced by tractors.

PLB120005 Unteres Schauetal
(Dolina Dolnej Skawy)
> Dieses Gebiet umfasst die größten Teichkom-
plexe des Oświęcim–Zator–Gebiets: Spytkowice,
Przeręb, Bugaj und Monowitzer Teiche sowie das
Schauetal. Anfänge der Karpfenzucht reichen bis
ins 13. Und 14. Jhd. hinein. Es wird eine inten-
sive Karpfenteichwirtschaft geführt, trotzdem
sind viele Wasserflächen stark eutroph und mit
Wasserpflanzen bewachsen. Im Refugialgebiet
befinden sich viele Kiesgruben mit Inseln, die
gerne von Vögeln besiedelt werden. Es kommen
hier mindestens 17 Vogelarten vor, die im Anhang
der ersten Vogelschutzrichtlinie der EU genannt
werden und für die Refugialgebeite im Rahmen
von Natura-2000-Netz ausgesondert werden
sowie 7 Arten aus dem polnischen „Roten Buch
der bedrohten Arten“ (Polska Czerwona Księga
– PCKZ). Diese Teiche bilden eine der wenigen
Brutstellen der Moorente (welche weltweit vom
Aussterben bedroht ist). Ihre Brutstellen haben
hier auch andere europaweit bedrohte Vogelgat-
tungen: Nachtreiher, Schwarzkopfmöwe, Weiß-
bartseeschwalbe (laut PCKZ – die größte Stelle in
ganz Polen), Rohrdommel (PCKZ), Zwergdommel
(PCKZ), Schwarzhalstaucher, Purpurreiher, Tüp-
felsumpfhuhn, Kleines Sumpfhuhn (PCKZ), Kol-
benente, Uferschnepfe, Rotschenkel, Trauersee-
schwalbe, Fluss-Seeschwalbe und Blaukehlchen.
> Das Schauetal gehört auf der Strecke zwi-
schen Dorf Graboszyce – Weichselmündung zu
dem malerischsten Winkel der Oświęcim-Za-
tor-Landschaft. Obwohl es von dem Menschen
stark beeinflusst und verändert wurde, wurden
hier an mehreren Stellen Biotopen erhalten, die
Natursystemen ähneln und reich an seltenen und
geschützten Arten sind. In den erhaltenen Frag-
menten von Auwäldern kann man neben Weide,
Schwarzpappel auch Grauerle antreffen. Im Un-
terholz kommt an manchen Stellen massenweise
der geschützte Farn – Straußenfarn – vor. Charak-
entwickelte Röhrichtzone, Schwimmblattzone so-
wie Laichkrautzone. Vom interessantesten Arten

spruch nimmt. Auch die Naturliebhaber kommen
auf eigenen Kosten, denn hier konnte man viele
Arten aus Pflanzen- und Tierreich beobachten,
darunter bedrohte Arten von landes- und eu-
ropaweiten Bedeutung.
2000-Netzwerkes.
> Das Karpfental ist eine Gegend vom außerge-
wöhnlicher kulturellen Wert. Die Wanderer kön-
nen nicht die Sehenswürdigkeiten versäumen,
die an den „Lehrpfad der Holzarchitektur“ oder
Wanderweg des „Sehenswürdigkeiten des Oswie-
cimer Landes“ liegen. Zur regionaler Highlight ist
„Zatorland“ geworden – es umfasst ein Park der
beweglichen Saurier, Mythologiepark, Insekten-
schiedenen Arten! Es fehlt auch nicht an Verkaufs-
ständen mit regionalem Kunsthandwerk sowie an
anderen artistischen Angeboten.
> Das Karpfental ist ein Gebiet von außerge-
wöhnlicher natürlicher Schönheit und Kultur,
wo jeder Tourist auf seine Kosten kommt. Jeder
Osteuropa charakteristische Landschaft, stel-
Ausge-
dehnte Wasserfläche, Reichtum an Fischbestand
sowie das 700-jährige Bestehen haben dafür
gesorgt, dass dieses Gebiet zu den wichtigsten
Refugialgebieten für Pflanzen und Vögel gehöre.
Die Zatorer Teichlandschaft gehört zu ältesten
und größten Karpfenzucht im Polen. Die gesam-
te Teichfläche beträgt mehr als 2000 Hektar. Die
interessantesten Komplexe umfassen Przeręb,
Spytkowice, Bugaj und Rudze. Der größte Teich
Pilawa.

> Carp Valley Association operates in seven communes: Brzeźnica, Spytkow-ice and Tomice (Wadowice district) and Osiek, Polanka Wielka, Przeciszów and Zator (Oświęcim district). His appoint-ment was the result of many years of activity of local communities, especial-ly local governments, businesses and people from the social sector (includ-ing those of the inland fisheries sec-tor). In this unique area called the Carp Valley, the beginnings of fish farming dates back to the thirteenth centu-ry. The tradition of breeding carp are cherished for generations, which com-bined with the unique properties of the natural environment made it possible to obtain carp characterized by specific properties. Fishing in the Carp Valley is not only an important area of the local economy, but also a kind of cul-tural heritage that’s cherished by the Carp Valley Association thanks to the Operational Program “Sustainable De-velopment of the Fisheries Sector and Coastal Fishing Areas 2007-2013”. Fisheries Local Action Group activates Carp Valley residents in the use of EU funds, as well as cultivating local fish-ing traditions, culinary and handicraft through organized events, meetings and training.
