    UTILITY-SCALE PV PLANT CASE STUDIES

    Stardale Solar Farm

    Location: Ontario | Partner: Enfinity | PV System Size: 33MW

    Located in the community of St. Eugne, Ontario in the township of East Hawkesbury,the first phase of the Stardale Solar Farm was put into operation in 2012. This initial

    solar energy project at this location consists of approximately 140,000 solar panels,

    with a generation capacity of 33MW. Draker was selected by Enfinity to provide remote

    monitoring and control of the PV solar plant. Draker project engineers and field

    engineers provided a full scope of engineering services including monitoring system

    design and installation oversight and commissioning.

    Bruceville Solar Farm

    Location: Elk Grove, CA | Partner: Belectric | PV System Size:21.9MW

    The Bruceville Solar Farm is a 21.9MW DC solar photovoltaic power plant located on

    115 acres of agricultural land in rural and unincorporated Sacramento County near Elk

    Grove. The project design, which utilizes a single-axis tracking system, is optimized

    for KWH production in the Sacramento Municipal Utility District feed in tariff program

    (SMUD FIT). Belectric selected Draker to provide plant monitoringthrough the Draker

    PV Utility Package.

    Pilesgrove Solar Farm

    Location: Pilesgrove, NJ | Partner: Con Edison Development | PV System Size: 20MW

    The Pilesgrove Solar Farm, one of the largest solar farms on the East Coast, consists

    of 71,000 panels. Its 20 MW peak output is connected to the PJM Grid using Draker

    remote management and SCADA control solutions. ConEd Development selected Drakerbased on the scalability and reliability of Drakers data acquisition system, as well as

    their ability to deliver an integrated monitoring and control solution to manage the

    utility interconnection. Draker provided a full scope of engineering services including

    monitoring system design and installation oversight and commissioning.

    Based on utility automation components from Schweitzer Engineering Labs (SEL) and data historians,

    including the OSIsoft PI System, Drakers PV Utility package lets plant operators monitor and

    manage the point of interconnection with the utility. The PV Utility Package allows plant operators

    to remotely access plant controls, make adjustments, and see the effects of adjustments in real

    time within the SCADA system.A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is embedded inside a Real Time

    Automation Controller (RTAC) installed at the plant and integrated with the monitoring network.

    Operators can access the HMI screen through secure login using a standard web browser. Each

    system is fully customized to meet plant requirements and enable supervisory control of inverters,

    switchgear and substation.

    determine site feasibility and secure project financing at the best rates.

    Drakers turnkey solar resource assessment platform provides a complete solution to evaluate

    potential project locations. The PV Prospector Package includes an advanced meteorological station to

    record environmental conditions on-site, aweb-based software applicationthat allows project data

    to be viewed and analyzed from any web-enabled device in near-real time, and abankability report

    delivered in partnership with AWS Truepower at the end of the feasibility study.

    The PV Prospector can be deployed

    for a 15, 18, 21,

    or 24-month term and can be

    redeployed at a new location following

    a completed site assessment. It can also be

    repurposed as a site meteorological station.
