COURSE OBJECTIVE

To introduce students to the full range of facilities associated with buildings and how to managethem. This course introduces students to facilities management in relation to property management,with focus on facilities planning, execution, control, evaluation and preventive maintenance.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Lectures project assignments, case study and group discussion.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT

Course grade will be based on final examination, project assignment and class attendance.

ASSIGNMENT

You are as a Facilities Manager for a mixed commercial complex which comprised of a 5 storey

shopping complex with a 3 level basement car park, 20 storey office tower and 25 storey five star

hotel.

Submit a comprehensive report based on the building above and elaborate the following items:-

1. List all the building services available in the building complex.

2. Choose 5 of the building services and please describe the operation of the system (sketches or

diagrammatic drawings is essential to explain the process).3. Choose 5 of the building services and describe the maintenance schedule required.

4. Briefly propose method how to reduce the electricity and water usage in order to minimize the

utility bill to your management and you dont have any budget constraint.

5. Briefly describe what is your planning to maintain the operation all the building services system

under your care in well kept conditions and efficient.

The report shall be presented in an appropriate style and should be about 2500 words in length,

with appendices. Photographs and drawings / sketches / diagrammatic are required to build up the

report.
