How plasmaNorm® works

Particles and dust are pre-filtered; the pollutant gases sub- sequently oxidise through ‘cold combustion’ in atmospheric, normal-pressure plasma. Germs and odour molecules are decomposed at the molecular level. Non-combusted compounds become caught in an activated carbon storage system. The activated carbon, located downstream, acts as a storage reactor that continually regenerates itself by means of plasma flow and, for example, converts ozone back into atmospheric oxygen. As a result, the intervals between servicing are very considerable, and replacement is unlikely to be necessary. The soleend prod- ucts are oxygen, atmospheric moisture and CO2.

The need for servicing or for replacement of expensive individual filters is minimised: pre-filters are washed as required. The plasma stage is low-maintenance and requires only low-wattage power. This plasma chemical technology was developed in conjunction with the Institute of Low-Temperature Plasma Phys- ics (INP Greifswald, Leibniz-Institut für Plasmaforschung und Technologie), which is at the forefront of scientific research in this field.

The plasmaNorm process specialises in removing organic odours - those occurring in food processing and in cooking as well as those of human origin. This patented filter technology was devel- oped for the catering and hotel sector, where it is used in cooker hoods and indoor air filters for kitchen extraction and circulating- air systems, and even for toilet facilities.

In front cooking, in kitchens and restaurants, the air quality is immediately and noticeably enhanced – staff and customers alike will hardly be affected at all. plasmaNorm gets rid of vapours and fumes. Even problematic greasy extract air from industrial deep-fat fryers is cleaned right on the spot by special processes and finally discharged with no odours. Any conflicts with local residents can be defused once and for all. And there is no need for long externally-mounted ducts above roof level: cost-effective retrofitting is possible at all locations, even in historic buildings.

Our cooker hoods have long proven their worth in practical use with their self-cleaning technology, which reduces maintenance and cleaning costs, improves safety and often saves the business from having to install new, expensive disposal air ducts. Working with solvents or processing animal products in- volves considerable air contamination. At the chemical level, all odours are – ultimately – just carbon molecules of varying length. Challenge: flour dust and other particulates posed a health risk to staff operating industrial deep fryers. Up to 3 million fish fingers are made here every day. The required daily clean- ing of production equipment created high levels of humidity. Solution: we installed an air extraction system near the emis- sion sources. The contaminated air is channelled through self-cleaning pre-filters and is subsequently cleansed using plasmaNorm technology. The stream of clean air is then fed directly back into the working areas. The system, which was installed on the roof in late 2005, cleans a flow volume of up to 20,000 m3 per hour. Outcome: increased acceptance of the working environ- ment due to enhanced wellbeing for workers. The electronic equipment used in production is now no longer affected by atmospheric moisture. Renovation work is needed less often. As an air supply and extraction system was not put in, there is no need for additional heating. Both the plant manager and the FRoSTA company medical officer report a significant improvement in air quality. Future projects with FRoSTA: an already planned system will now also contain air conditioning technology, enabling the production facility to be heated or cooled as required.

문제 : 대상 작업장은 깊이가 깊은 산업용 튀김설비를 사용하여 일일 최대 3백만개의 생선튀김을 생산하고 있었는데 작업과정에서 발생하는 소맥분 먼지와 기타 입자들이 근무자들의 건강을 위협하고 있었다. 작업장의 생산설비는 매일마다 청소를 필요로 하였는데 이 과정에서 다량의 습기가 발생하고 있었다. 해법적용: 당사는 공기추출 시스템을 전술한 먼지 및 기타 입자의 배출 원에 인접하여 설치하였다. 오염된 공기는 해당시스템의 예비필터를 통과한 후 plamaNorm 기술에 의해 정화처리되었으며 그런 다음 그 정화된 공기가 다시 작업장내로 곧바로 공급되었다. 2005년 말에 작업장 외부의 지붕에 설치된 해당 시스템은 현재 시간당 최대 20,000 m3

의 공기를 정화시키고 있다. 결과: 근무자들의 건강상태가 개선되고 작업환경에 대한 만족도도 증가하였다 . 생산과정에 사용되는 전자식 설비는 더 이상 대기중 수분의 영향을 받지 않게 되었으며 작업장에 대한 수리개선 작업의 필요성도 크게 감소하였다 . 공기공급 및 추출을 위한 시스템이 작업장 외부에 설치됨으로써 작업장내 추가 난방의 필요성은 사라지게 되었다. 공장 책임자와 FRoSTA 소속 의료 담당자의 보고에 따르면 작업장내 공기의 질이 크게 향상된 것으로 밝혀졌다. .. FRoSTA사와 관련된 향후 프로젝트 : 이미 계획중인 시스템이 있으며 이 시스템에는 필요에 따라 생산설비에 대한 난방 또는 냉각을 가능하게 해주는 공조 기술이 적용될 예정이다.

KAIMUG Franchise Restaurants

Front cooking in Thai grill Kitchens Locations: Cologne-Bonn Airport, Hamburg-Altona Station, Munich, Berlin and elsewhere

Challenge: here, grill chefs prepare Thai meals right in front of the customers. The franchise concept requires an air quality solution that is not site-dependent. Smoke and odours were not wanted outside the wok and fry kitchens. Solution: a direct extraction system above the frying/cooking station was designed. The plasmaNorm air

circulation filter contains a pre-filter that can be cleaned in the washing machine. The pre-cleaned air is then rid of odours during the plasma stage and fed back into the dining area. The hood is self-cleaning and has a flow rate of about 2,000 m³ per hour. Outcome: The wok and fry kitchens equipped by us were suc- cessfully used in Hamburg-Altona station and at Cologne-Bonn airport. Inspection and approval by the fire authority proved quick and straightforward. KAIMUG’s chain of restaurants is currently undergoing considerable expansion, and plas- maNorm technology is now part of the franchising concept.

Challenge: this production facility processes meat into modern convenience products using 1.5 megawatts industrial ovens and industrial grills. Seasonings and marinades generate strong odours. Solution: the highly contaminated, strong-smelling air is extracted before it leaves the ovens. The air, very strongly charged with moisture, grease and protein, flows through a two-part extraction system. It is initially filtered during the condensation stage (called ‘conditionAir’) before gas clean- ing takes place using plasmaNorm technology. The extracted air discharged outside is odour-free. The system, mounted

on the roof, has been in continual operation since mid-2006 and cleans a flow volume of around 8,000 m³/h. Outcome: Due to the measures taken, no problem odours occur in the immediate neigh- bourhood. The running costs of the system are kept low.

문제: 대상이 된 생산시설은 1.5 메가와트급 산업용 오븐과 그릴을 이용해 육류를 현대식의 간편 제품으로 가공하는 작업을 하고 있었다. 작업과정에서는 각종 양념과 절임액들이 사용되고 있었는데 강한 악취를 풍기고 있었다. 해법적용: 강한 냄새의 오염도 높은 공기를 오븐장치에서 배출되기 전에 추출해 내기 위한 해법을 적용하였다 . 즉 , 수분 , 기름기 , 단백질 성분 등을 잔뜩 머금고 있는 공기가 이원구조로 된 공기추출 시스템을 통과하도록 만들었는데 해당 시스템을 통과하는 공기는 응축단계(‘conditionAir’라고도 부른다)를 통해 일차적으로 여과처리되며 그런다음에는 plasmaNorm 기술에 의한 정화가 이루어지도록 하였다 . 이런 과정을 거쳐 외부로 나온 공기에는 더 이상의 악취가 존재하지 않았다 . 2006년 중반에 생산시설의 지붕에 설치된 해당 시스템은 현재까지 가동중에 있으며 그 공기처리량은 시간당 약 8,000 m³에 달하고 있다 . Outcome결과 : 해법적용에 따라 인접지역으로의 악취 전파는 더 이상 발생하지 않았다. 아울러 시스템의 가동비용도 낮은 수준에서 유지되고 있다.

Café Schrunz A breath of fresh air for customers and staff Location: Greven

Schrunz 카페 카페 고객 및 근무직원을 위한 신선한 공기의 제공 위치 : Greven

Challenge: the café has around 30 tables; smokers and ovens behind the bar were influencing the air quality. Solution: we mounted two aereus® circulating-air cleaners on the ceiling of the public area, which clean a flow volume of up to 1,200 m³ per hour. Staff can adjust the air flow by remote control. The pre-filters are machine washable. The design goes well with the look and feel of the café. Outcome: the air quality is now pleasant for customers and staff alike, with odours no longer a problem. And, despite the ban on smoking, the filters are still in use because of the ovens.

문제: 대상이 된 카페는 30개의 좌석을 지니고 있었고 바 뒤에 오븐이 있어 카페 내 공기의 질에 영향을 미치고 있었다. Solution해법적용: 당사는 순환공기 정화장치인 aereus® 를 홀 구역에 2대 설치하였는데 이를 통해 시간당 최대 의 공기가 정화되고 있다. 해당 장치는 카페직원이 리모콘으로 조정할 수 있게 돼 있어 내부의 예비필터는 분리 세척이 가능하도록 돼 있다. 해당장치의 디자인은 카페의 외관 및 분위기와 적절한 조화를 이루고있다 결과: 근무직원과 손님모두 공기의 질에 만족하고 있으며 더 이상의 악취발생도 없다 . 해당 카페는금연구역으로 지정된 곳이긴 하지만 오븐장치가 있어 해당 시스템은 계속가동중이다 .
