Introduction

它是描述聚集在一些病人身上的多重風險因子,每一個因子單獨存在時都會增加罹患心血管疾病(cardiac vascular disease) 的風險

分為冠狀動脈疾病、腦血管疾病、末梢血管疾病

代謝症候群 (Syndrome X, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance syndrome)

又稱非胰島素依賴型糖尿病,胰島功能不足導致胰島素相對性缺乏和對週邊組織產生 insulin resistance

insulin resistance 是 Type 2 diabetes 主要發生的原因

降低 insulin 敏感度、增加肝醣釋出,同時產生glucose tolerance 異常及 hyperinsulinemia, 使血糖濃度過高,形成葡萄糖毒性作用,而 hyperinsulinemia 會增加游離脂肪酸濃度,形成脂質毒性作用

臨床上所使用胰島素分泌劑的一種

與胰臟 β- 細胞受體具有高度的親合力,可提高 β- 細胞對葡萄糖的敏感性進而促進胰島素的分泌,但並不會刺激胰島素的合成

Materials and methods

使用 24 名 Type 2 糖尿病患者 ,分為 2 組,每組各 12 人

年齡限制: 40~60 歲 體重限制: 50~70 公斤 fasting blood glucose > 150mg/dl Glycosylated hemoglobin concentration >

將第四、第五片的桑椹葉用水洗淨,並去除不相關的雜質

把葉子烘乾至粉末狀,裝在 500mg/capsule

的膠囊裡 Mulberry therapy :一天服用 3 次,每次 2 顆 50

0mg/capsule 的膠囊,總劑量 3 g/day Glibenclamide :每天服用一片藥片,總劑量 5 g/

day

The results clearly indicate that mulberry therapy is highly effective against lipid peroxidation when compared with glibenclamide treatment.

Whereas glibenclamide treatment showed significant effect on plasma and urinary peroxides, membrane peroxides remain unaffected.

Mulberry therapy significantly decreased membrane cholesterol and phospholipids of type 2 diabetic patients.

However, no significant effect was seen on the membrane cholesterol and phospholipids with the glibenclamide treatment.
