“Takashi Murakami: The 500 Arhats” will be held from October 31, 2015 to March 6, 2016 at the Mori Art Museum (Roppongi, Tokyo). The main attraction will be “The 500 Arhats,” a 100-meter-long painting to be shown for the first time in Japan. Also included are some new works Murakami created especially for this exhibition as well as other recent works. 「村

Recently, manhole covers are attracting atten-tion. This is because they are emblazoned with cartoon characters or buildings that have a connection to the local area. There has even been an increase in the number of so called “manhole-joshi,” that is women who like to take pictures of unique “design manhole” covers. There is a website named “Hirake (Open)! Manhole” for fans of manhole covers. Visitors to the site can display pictures of various covers posted from inside and outside of Japan, this website also has plenty of information about relat-ed merchandise and events. The com-pany that runs the website is HINODE, Ltd., a major manufacturer of manhole covers. “Essentially, rather than adver-tising our company, it’s a site dedicated to the appreciation of manholes.
