To Whom It May Concern;

As one of the two campus ministers here, I haveknown Jayne lor a little over two years. In thattime she has endeared herself to all of us. If there

is a word that describes her I would choose the

word 'servant'. Jayne has been the head of our costmeal committee, a committee that involves muchcoordination and plain hard work. If somethingneeds to be done she is a willing helper. Herservanthood is an outstanding quality.

Another quality that is apparent is her positiveattitude. I don't recall ever seeing her down orexpressing a negative thought. This is a wonderful quality that all appreciate.

We are delighted to see that she is seeking mission service. Without reservation I do endorse her

believing that she will provide a great service forthe Lord in Zimbabwe. From my perspective she isworthy of financial support as she follows theleading of the Lord.

Yours in Christ,Sam Garden, Jr.Campus Minister Ar

Mission: ZIMBABWE Update

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. After returning fromthe National Missionary Convention, which I will say I had awonderful time, I was excited and pleased to meet so many of themissionaries and their families that I will be worxing with.It was a stimulating and fruitful time for me, as I talkedand listened and learned more about the customs and the cultureof Zimbabwe. I am looking forward to arriving in Zimbabweand getting started on the work there. Yet, there is thecontinued frustration of support raising...and I am not theonly one to be feeling this way. I realized even more thegreat need for praying Christians. Christians that actuallybelieve in prayer and put it to work in their lives. Andyet how can we pray specific prayers as the Lord Jesus didin John 17 if we do not. know who has needs and what thoseneeds are. I am therefore, continuing to make my needsknown to you my friends in Christ....PLEASE PRAY WITH ME THAT THE LORD WILL PROVIDE FOR MY NEEDSAS WELL AS OTHERS. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do notgive up." Gal. 6:9 NIV

PRAISE THE LORD -"Let everything that has breathe praise the lord." Ps: 150:6

Harare Christian Church had a revival in early August and theLord added 14 new brothers and sisters to His church. Theywere able to meet in their new building for the first time, but without the walls. Yep, they were able to get theelectrical work finished before the services so that thefire mars hall would okay it to be safe. Also, later in themonth they had a fabulous and exciting VBS at Harare ChristianChurch and at the Greencroft Christian Church. There were anaverage of 150 children at both churches. They listened andlearned memory verses, sang songs, brought friends, and evengave a good offering to help build a shelter for MeshokoHospital. "The fields are white unto harvest." Thesechildren are being trained to be future leaders in theChurches and future leaders in Zimbabwe. Please continue topray for those that are there working with them. And praythat I will be able to join them soon.

A MESSAGE FROM MARCIA KAY THOMSON.

Ja3me Linda Free has volunteered to come work in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. She has been approved for this work by Central Africa Missions. We feelthat the Lord has directed her to this work as her talents and experienceseem suited to the task awaiting her.

Since January 1983 Marcia Kay Thomson has been working in Harare. She isplanning to leave in April 1986 to take a furlough. Jayne Linda needs tobe able to work with Marcia Kay for several months to leam all the differentfacets of the work.

Jayne Linda will be involved in three main areas of work: Harare ChristianChurch, Zimbabwe Christian College, and helping the other Central AfricaMission missionaries.

The work in11arare~is vital txr-Hls kiugduEr;—Soon the Central-^Afrlca^^issioflrwill have been in Zimbabwe 30 years. During this time most of the peoplethat have been reached for the Lord have been in the rural areas. We arenow in a position to reach people in the capital city. We feel that peoplehere are more open to the Gospel than they have ever been. In 2H years theHarare Christian Church has grown from 60 to 200 in attendance and is building a church building. These 200 people are from varied backgrounds. Thelargest number are local Africans, but within this group we have people fromseveral language areas. There are also some of mixed race. We have whitepeople that are native to the country, too. Then we have people from severalnearby African countries, and also India, Mauritius, England, and the USA.The educational level is also varied. Some of the adults have never been toschool, speak very little English and do not read and write in their ot-ralanguage. There is a special Bible Class for the Shona-speaking people. Wehave others who have Doctorates. Jayne Linda will be a valuable member ofthis congregation.

Ja3me Linda will also be involved with the Zimbabwe Christian College. Atthe present time there are 10 students, but many others have said that theyplan to start in May 1986. These students are being trained to preach theGospel and teach religious education in tiie government schools. There is areal need for trained preachers and teachers throughout the country.

-^Some of the-work^ she^ill—be-doing-for-zee includes'plannii;ng=^t^t&^mentafik.:£or.the students and some of the staff,, purchasing the groceries, cleaning supplies and the many spare parts needed for maintenance. She will also pay thesalaries of the local workers. There are- 4 full-time and some part-timeworkers. The banking and bookkeeping for the College come under her jobdescription also. The school garden which supplies food fdr the studentsalso needs supervision. We are looking for someone to take over the supervision and maintenance of the College, but until then she will be responsiblefor these duties.

The Central Africa Mission has missionaries throughout the country, andbecause we are located in the Capital, much of our time is spent in liasi-oflbetween these missionaries and government offices and businesses located herein Harare. We are in daily radio contact with our rural mission stationswhich requires being at the radio on schedule and then following up requeststhat are made.

r

This often means telephone calls to make appointments, find spare parts andtract down lost orders. There are also errands to run and deliveries to bearranged. We also see personnel In and out of the airport which Is locatedcloseby.

As you can see, this Is an Important job which enables many other missionariesto do a more effective work.

Marcla Kay Thomson
