DOCOMO announced its new Medium-Term Vision 2015 "Shaping a Smart Life" to establish new steps. This speech covers initiatives for evolution of mobile services such as smartphones, new value creation through convergence of industries /services, and use of cloud and initiatives for building customer trust and delivering peace of mind.

Environmental and Energy Policies in Japan

After the nuclear disaster in 2011, Japan has been forced to completely change its environmental and energy policies. On the other hand, the negative impact on the environment is increasing globally while emerging countries follow a path of significant economic growth. This session will focus on Japan's future environmental and energy policies and outline their impact on business.

A new global community must be created to deal with societies that have ageing populations. By viewing the disaster area caused by the Tohoku earthquake as a microcosm of an aging population, and from the perspective of information usage, we discuss how a new community model can be achieved through many organizations working together.

Exceptional Growth Driven by Quiet Dedication In the mid-1990s, the annual turnover of Harada, a renown Japanese-style confectionary store established in 1901, was less than 100 million Yen. It now exceeds 15 billion Yen. Rapid growth of a corporation is considered dangerous, but not so for Harada. Why did it succeed despite very rapid growth? Discover the secret, including the secret recipe, for the popular Rusk product. We outline the renewal process followed by Harada, which is very applicable to any industry and business environment.

Despite Hardships, Sanei Management Continues to Increase Sales and ProfitsAs at February 2012, the predicted annual turnover of the Sanei hypermarket in Okinawa Prefecture was 145 billion Yen, with an operating profit of 10 billion Yen. An operating profit of 6.8% is considered exceptionally good for a business of that type. We can certainly learn from the management style of Sanei, which continued to increase its profit margin even after a world-wide recession. You will enjoy the talk by Mr Koja, who was part of Sanei's senior management team, and is now the president and driving force behind Lawson Okinawa.

The unprecedented scale of natural disasters, such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Thai floods, have highlighted the challenges facing our modern society and global economies, such as the vulnerability of global supply chains, disaster prevention measures for ensuring business continuity, pressure on medical resources by aging populations, energy supply issues and environmental problems. Japan needs new initiatives that are not bound by existing assumptions or preconceived ideas and that can move us towards post-earthquake reconstruction and regeneration. We, at Fujitsu, hope to contribute to the rebuilding of our customer's businesses and communities through continuous "reshaping", and grow with them to build a prosperous and eco-friendly future for all people.

At Fujitsu Forum 2012, we introduce our new initiatives for using ICT to enhance lifestyles in our communities and increase business competitiveness for customers. Fujitsu's cutting-edge products, services, and technologies support our initiatives.
