NASHVILLE, TN—June 2012—The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH)

proudly announces that the Bangor Museum and History Center and Bangor High School are the recipi-

ents of an Award of Merit from the AASLH Leadership in History Awards for Exploring Historic Land-

scapes Using GIS: The Great Bangor Fire of 1911. The AASLH Leadership in History Awards, now in its

67th year, is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of

state and local history.

AASLH is also pleased to announce that, in addition to the Award of Merit, the Bangor Museum and History Center and

Bangor High School, were also selected as a 2013 HIP (History in Progress) Award winner by the Leadership in History

University of Maine study.

Since its first event, a July 2010 Celtic Woman

show, Waterfront Concerts has drawn more than 200,000
