    Remove as follows:

    WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY

To avoid injury, never remove any engine component while the engine is running.

    WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY

To avoid injury from hot surfaces, wear protective gloves, or allow engine to cool before removingany component.

    1. Shut off engine and apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety steps.

    CAUTION: ELECTRICAL SHOCK

To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting battery cables. The magneticswitch studs are at battery voltage.

    2. Disconnect the batteries. Refer to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) procedures.3. If necessary, remove the passenger side fairing. Refer to OEM procedures.4. Remove the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) outlet temperature sensor (3).5. Remove the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) outlet pressure sensor tube (4).6. Remove the six outboard heat shield mounting bolts (2).

    7. Remove the outboard heat shield (1) from the 1-BOX configuration by disengaging the folded flange on the top ofthe outboard heat shield. See figure below.
