Feed-in Tariff for Renewable Energy
Selling excessive electricity from rooftop solar panels
to power companies
With the support of government, the power companies China Light & Power and Hong Kong
Electric launched the feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme to promote the use of renewable energy by
end of 2017 and early 2018.
System Capacity FiT rate (per kWh)
≦ 10kW HK$5
> 10kW to ≦ 200kW HK$4
> 200kW to ≦ 1MW HK$3
The cost of acquiring electricity from the power company is around $1.1/kWh. Based on the
financial subsidy of FiT, the payback period of investing in solar PV system could be reduced
from 30 years to 10 years. The capital cost of installing solar PV system is about $44/W and
1m2 PV panel could generate 200W electricity.

In brief, all members (including fellows) and associates should complete a minimum of 20 hours per year on a mandatory basis starting from 1 July 2015. The CPD may come under 3 categories: (1) education and training, (2) community, institutional, and social services, (3) private study. A minimum of 10 hours should fall within the type of education and training, of which at least 4 hours should be FM related activities. Private study should be subject to a maximum claim of 5 hours per year.
