Surveillance Infrastructure

• Radar replacement program finalised- 12 new MSSR stations

- 1 PSR station

• Poor coverage in north

ADS-B in Kiruna

• Kiruna is the most northern airport

• < FL 70 Procedural ATC

• Airlines (2) require improved SUR service

• 10 schedule movements per day

• Some charter

• Limited GA and Military traffic

• Experimental activities

• Aircraft winter testing

• VDL Mode 4 and ADS-B from 2002

A-SMGCS

• New ground surface radar system at Arlanda

• ADS-B input to A-SMGCS

• Operational at Arlanda 2002

• Gothenburg, Sturup next

• SAS will require the same in Copenhagen and Oslo

• ATIS broadcast over VDL Mode 4 in parallel to ACARS

ATM

• System 2000 – New ATM system for whole Sweden- Delivered by AIRSYS

- First part in operation December 2001 in Stockholm

- Co-operation with Australia on implementing ADS-B• 4 Upgrades planned until 2004

• SMART – ATC Simulator at Swedish ATS Academy (SATSA)- Delegated Airborne Separation during Approach and

Departure simulated in May 2000

- Full implementation of ADS (ADS-C and ADS-B) is ongoing
