생활모습에 맞는 가구디자인전통 목가구는 한국의 자연활경, 주거양식, 사회적 구조, 관습 등에 따라 독특한 한국적 조형양식으로 발전되었다. 중국이나 서양의 의자생활은

넓고 높고 실내공간을 형성하여 자연히 육중하고 장식적인 면이 강하다. 그러나 한국은 온돌로 인한 평좌생활의 영향으로 천정이 낮고 실내도 비

교적 좁아, 가구들은 시각적인 부담을 줄이고 보다 넓은 생활 공간을 확보하기 위해 작고 낮으며 간결하게 제작되었다. 서안, 연상, 등 방의 중심

에 놓여지는 가구들은 공간활용에 효과적으로 유동성을 고려하여 제작되었고 문갑, 머리장 등이 모두 키가 낮고 폭이 얕은 것은 평좌세에서의 실

용성을 고려한 것이다.

Design of funiture to human scale The furniture was designed to human scale, to match the height of people when standing or sitting, accord-

ing to the function of each piece. Furniture was designed to suit the lifestyle of sitting on the floor. Thus,

it was about the height of a person standing, and narrow to emphasize the height. Examples were chests,

stacked chests, and book and display stands. Conversely, stationery chests and clothing chests were de-

signed to match a person’s sitting height, and emphasized the width rather then the height.

문갑Stationery chest [mungap]

문갑문갑은 일반적으로 창문 아래쪽 공간에 배치되며 유용한 소품들을 올

려놓아 장식하거나 내부에 중요 문서나 기물들을 보관하는 가구이다.

안방용은 여성들의 취향에 알맞은 화사한 재질로 되어 있고 사랑방용

은 선비들의 문방생활에 적합한 검소하고 안정된 형식을 취하고 있다.

전면이 막힌 남성용 문갑은 전면의 복판이 오동나무, 소나무 또는 먹감

나무판재로 구성되어 단아한 형태를 보이고 있으며, 여성용은 먹감나

무, 느티나무를 사용하거나 나전칠을 입혀 보다 장식적이다.

Stationery chest [mungap] Decorative items of furniture in the anbang were the

mungap and sabangtakja. These items were used

in both the men’s and women’s rooms. Although

the stationery chest for both rooms was around the

same size and made of the same kind of wood. the

chests used by women were richly decorated with

mother-of-pearl.
