To celebrate its 100th anniversa-ry, Poltrona Frau has opened a museum in Tolentino

al territorio marchigiano nel quale l’azienda, fondata a Torino da Renzo Frau nel 1912, si è trasferita all’inizio degli anni Sessanta. In esposizione le poltrone icona della storica casa, come la 1919, dal look inizio secolo, il divanetto trapuntato Chester, la celebre Vanity Fair (dalle forme tondeggianti, nota come la “poltrona di Topolino”) fino all’ultima nata, Juliet, creata appositamente per il centenario da un giovane creativo inglese. Pezzi originali, inseriti in ambientazioni che richiamano

il gusto dell’epoca, ma anche prodotti contemporanei, insieme a documenti originali, cartoline, manifesti pubblicitari, cataloghi. Un percorso che ricostruisce le vicende di Poltrona Frau dagli inizi fino alla collaborazione con archistar come Renzo Piano. Due sezioni sono dedicate ai grandi progetti per teatri e auditorium e alle collaborazioni con il mondo degli yacht, degli aerei e dei treni; in esposizione anche una Ferrari California coni rivestimenti in pelle rossa.

The pol-trona Frau Museum was designed by Michele De lucchi and displays pieces of furniture, drawings, pictu-res and materials never displayed before. 1400 square meters of design and craftsmanship. The place was chosen to pay tri-bute to the Marche region to which the company, founded in Turin in 1912 by renzo Frau, moved at the beginning of the 1960s. iconic armchairs are on display, such as the “1919”, representative of chairs at the turn of the 20th century, the “Chester”, a capitonné upholste-red armchair, the famous “Vanity Fair”, also known as “Mickey Mou-se’s armchair”, or the newcomer “Juliet”, which was designed by a young British designer to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary.These are all original pieces di-splayed in surroundings that recall the time at which they were built. There are also original documents, postcards, advertisement posters and catalogues, which all contribu-te to retrace the story of poltro-na Frau, from its beginnings until its collaboration with renowned architect renzo piano. Two sec-tions of the museum are devoted to large projects such as theaters and auditoriums, but also yachts, aircrafts and trains. There is even a Ferrari California upholstered with red leather.

A desso il Pirellone non è più solo. Dai suoi miseri

30 piani ormai guarda dal basso i nuovi grattacieli che stanno cambiando per sempre lo skyline di Milano. Finalmente infatti anche lei sta diventando una “città verticale” dopo che, con un certo orgoglio, ha salutato la nuova guglia a spirale, alta 78 metri, in cima alla torre Unicredit progettata dall’architetto argentino Cesar Pelli. Un’unghia d’acciaio che graffia il cielo e ha conquistato subito il primato di “edificio più alto d’Italia”, oltre al nomignolo di “Diamantone”. Svetta nella piazza intitolata a Gae Aulenti tra i giochi d’acqua di quattro fontane da accendere o spegnere a piacere e l’immensa panchina circolare lunga 105 metri. Altro grattacielo della nuova Manhattan meneghina è il “Pirellone bis”, la struttura in vetro e acciaio di Palazzo Lombardia, la nuova sede della Regione, dotata persino di eliporto, che però, toccati i 163 metri, s’è visto presto sfilare il primato dalla vicina spirale. Ma a Milano un grattacielo non è solo un grattacielo. Può essere perfino un “Bosco Verticale”, come quello

ideato dall’architetto Stefano Boeri: due torri di 110 e 76 metri, all’interno del progetto Porta Nuova, destinati a ospitare 900 alberi alti fino a nove metri, oltre a piante e fiori. Un immenso polmone equivalente a 10mila metri quadrati di verde che contemporaneamente ottimizza, recupera, produce energia pulita.Intorno e sotto i nuovi grattacieli è nata anche una “seconda Montenapo”: il Corso Como District realizzato da Hines. Un nuovo polo con brand ad alto contenuto creativo e soprattutto un nuovo distretto della moda che punta a surclassare il celebre “Quadrilatero”, con 160mila metri quadri di area pedonale e oltre 50 spazi tra negozi, showroom, ristoranti, gallerie d’arte e laboratori culturali. Paradossalmente si recupera il rapporto con la campagna, questo perché oggi la natura a Milano non si vede, ma dal tetto dei grattacieli sì»: così ha dichiarato in una recente intervista il critico d’arte Philippe Daverio. l’entusiasmo per “la città che sale” a Milano però, ci ricorda, risale ai tempi del celebre dipinto realizzato nel 1910 da Umberto Boccioni. esaltazione visiva della forza e del movimento, il quadro (nella foto) che rappresenta in un vortice di movimento il sorgere di nuove costruzioni, fu acquistato nel 1912 dal musicista ferruccio Busoni nel corso della mostra d’opere futuriste itinerante in europa. È oggi esposto al Guggenheim di New york.

This, too, is the spirit of the new Milan.

The rising city “I believe that skyscrapers put people in a good mood, they seem happy. Ironically, we are closer to the countryside now, because if we don’t see much of Nature in Milan today, we do

The Venini arte pura exhibit, in via Montenapoleone, is organized by the famous Venini glass-making company. On show are original pieces by Gaetano pesce, alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre, atelier Oï, emmanuel Babled, Matteo Thun and Mario Bellini. The long awaited exhibition at the Triennale Design Museum about the “influence Syndrome”, brings together site-specific projects by 22 italian and international designers that examine postwar to today’s design.

G iacomo Guidi, seconda generazione dei Guidi “degli Angeli” di quella terra fertile di artigianato

e creatività dal nome Marche. Dal padre Piero ha ereditato la passione smodata per l’Arte, coltivata in uno dei luoghi magici d’Italia, la magnifica Urbino. Direttore artistico, stilista, regista dell’azienda di famiglia, una delle storiche di pellettieri italiani, ma soprattutto fotografo. Non uno qualsiasi, ma il ritrattista dell’anima, che ha firmato campagne che hanno avuto come protagonisti alcuni meravigliosi Angeli del Nostro Tempo. Alcuni maledetti, altri al di là delle nuvole… La magnifica ossessione di Giacomo è l’obiettivo, il suo terzo occhio, attraverso il quale indaga i sentimenti. Così, per conciliare stile e immagine, ha pensato a campagne che hanno riscritto il modo di comunicare. Una nuova e sensibile rilettura dell’uomo, o donna, legati a un prodotto. Così da fare del logo Piero Guidi, due angeli abbracciati, una bandiera. Sotto il vessillo degli angeli, si sono mossi e si muovono personaggi e storie diverse. Una galleria emozionante di uomini e donne generosi, sensibili e geniali. Magari un po’ ammaccati, magari un po’ appannati, comunque protagonisti del nostro tempo e che rappresentano tutta la forza e la magia di un Angelo. Giacomo Guidi represents the second generation of the Guidi’s “angels” from the Marche, a region known

for its creativity and handicrafts. From his father, piero, he has inherited an immoderate passion for art, cultivated in the fascinating city of Urbino. Giacomo works as artistic director, stylist, director of the family business (one of the oldest italian company manufacturing leather goods), but, above all, he is a photographer. Not just a plain photographer, but one whose portraits reveal people’s souls and who has come up with some of the most famous “angels of Our Time” campaigns. Some angels are cursed, others are beyond the clouds... The camera lens is Giacomo’s everlasting passion, his third eye with which he explores emotions. So, in order to combine style and pictures, he came up with campaigns that have become models of communication. These

B ergamo aleggia nell’aria brianzola, a due passi da una Milano che sale sempre più in alto, quasi a bucare il

cielo. Non è un racconto geografico nel termine più puro, ma una collocazione di mente, cuore e corpo, per uno dei nostri chef di punta. Giancarlo Morelli, una stella Michelin (una sola? verrebbe da dire) un ristorante a Seregno, Pomiroeu, con bottega del gusto annessa, e una succursale a Marrakech, Marocco, che insieme al Perù è la sua grande passione. Il locale era un’antica osteria con il nome preso in prestito dai meleti che lo circondavano e Giancarlo lo ha consacrato, da vent’anni ormai (a ottobre il compleanno) a tempio della cucina d’autore. Premi, riconoscimenti e fiumi d’inchiostro esaltano le sue doti da Maestro. A me piace parlarne semplicemente, nulla togliendo all’acclamata maestria, ma piuttosto aggiungendo all’uomo e all’artista, che è rimasto un puro che ti incanta con un gran sorriso, parlata schietta e una cucina da poesia. Dalla quale traspare l’amore per i ricordi, quelli veri dell’infanzia, carichi di profumi perduti, come il coniglio con polenta cucinato da sua madre che alternava agli adorati risotti. E Giancarlo, per una strana, magnifica alchimia fatta di passione, riproduce i suoi ricordi, regalandoci i sapori di una volta con un tocco personalissimo e geniale. Il riso, uno dei suoi più fertili terreni, prende voce e si trasforma: sposa pistilli di zafferano e riduzioni di vino rosso; si unisce al quartirolo e al radicchio tardivo coronato da aceto di lamponi e, in crescendo, diventa protagonista dell’Incompreso, una delizia misteriosa sovrastata da un minuscolo uovo di quaglia. E la tradizione continua, piatto dopo piatto, rima dopo rima. E canta la cucina lombarda, autentica e semplice, di pancia e di cuore. Alla Morelli.

Bergamo seems to hover in the clear air of Brianza, a province of

lombardy, not far from Milan and its skyscrapers. This isn’t really a traveling tale, more a hodgepodge of mind, heart and body to talk about one of our best chefs. Giancarlo Morelli is the chef of pomireu, a one Michelin star (one feels like saying, “Just one?”) restaurant in Seregno, not far from either Bergamo or Milan. He also owns the delicatessen store next door, as well as another restaurant in Marrakesh, Morocco, a country he loves as much as peru. pomireu is an old inn that takes its name for the apple orchard that used to grow there. During the past 20 years (they are celebrating its anniversary in October), Giancarlo has transformed it into a temple of fine cuisine. Numerous awards and articles attest to his talent. i do not wish to play down his skills, but i’d rather talk about the man and the artist, who has managed to stay himself and welcomes you with a big smile and dishes that are worth a thousand poems. all of them are a tribute to his childhood memories, full of foregone fragrances, like the stewed rabbit and polenta his mother used to prepare, or her beloved risotto. Through some kind of strange and wonderful magic made of passion, Giancarlo turns these memories into a wonderful and very personal cuisine. rice, for instance, is one of his favorite ingredients which he prepares several ways: with saffron pistils and red wine reduction; with quartirolo cheese and radicchio with a drop of raspberry vinegar. rice is also the main ingredient of the “incompreso” (the misunderstood), a delicious and mysterious dish topped with a quail egg. This is how Giancarlo keeps tradition alive, dish after dish, and rhyme after rhyme. The simple and authentic cuisine of lombardy will rejoice both your stomach and your heart. Morelli style.

My Festival è il più impor-tante progetto speciale in ambito musicale varato quest’anno dalla Fonda-zione Musica per Roma in occasione del decennale dell’Auditorium di Roma: il nuovo format sarà “fir-mato” da Patti Smith che curerà la “regia” di diversi giorni di programmazione. Naturalmente è prevista la partecipazione in prima persona della musicista americana cui è affidata l’intera rassegna, a partire dal concerto-capolavoro “Horses”, che ripercorre le tracce dell’album epo-cale del ’75.
