Canal Plaza offers tourist information about Otaru and Shiribeshi Region, with full-time staff who can speak English, Chinese, and Korean. Souvenirs may also be purchased here.
One of Otaru’s best-known sightseeing spots. A very popular place to take a commemorative photo.
This street features an old-fashioned cityscape, and is lined with points of interest such as Kitaichi Glass, as well as souvenir shops and restaurants.
This intersection is surrounded by a number of points of interest such as the Otaru Music Box Museum and Le Tao Confectionery.

The 200 m span from Highway 5 to the canal district is lined with long-standing sushi restaurants.

These bus routes circle between Otaru’s main sightseeing spots. (A) The Marine Course, which heads towards Wing Bay Otaru, operates on approximately 30 minute intervals. (B) The Tenguyama Course, which heads towards Mt. Tengu, operates on 60 minute intervals. (C) The Shukutsu Course operates on 60 minute intervals. All of these courses connect at Otaru Canal Terminal, making it easy to change between courses. This is a very convenient tool for ef�ciently traveling between multiple sightseeing spots.

The vehicle’s bus stop information monitor will indicate the next bus stop, allowing you to confirm where to exit the bus.*Please push one of the stop buttons found throughout the bus to signal the driver that you would like to exit at the next stop.
The central door is for boarding, and the front door is for exiting.
As you exit, please deposit your fare into the fare box next to the driver.*The driver cannot make change, so please use the change machine in front of the fare box to prepare exact change in advance.

Trains and buses conveniently operate on frequent regular schedules. Trains allow access towards Sapporo or towards Yoichi. Also, the majority of city buses operate based on this station.

Minami Otaru Station is 10 minutes on foot to the “Marchen Crossroads”, a sightseeing district on the south side of Sakai-machi Street with many attractions such as music box shops, glass shops, and confectionaries. The area around this station was once a thriving district, and many historical buildings still remain from its heyday.

This is Otaru’s second largest transportation hub, directly connected to “Wing Bay Otaru”, a major commercial complex. This station is also very convenient as a stop for express trains bound for Sapporo and New Chitose Airport.
