St. Clare Parish This Week and Next

NEW Community Shelter Meals Program

St. Clare Parish has been a supporter of helping to feed the hungry for many years. Our parish assists at the NEW Community Shelter (301 Mather Street, Green Bay) several times per year. Here are some important changes that have taken place in our ministry at the shelter:

- Meals are prepared at the shelter just prior to being served. The meals are no longer prepared ahead of time and taken to the shelter.

- We currently have no one in the role of Dessert Coordinator. If you have a passion for this kind of ministry, please contact Kristi Nelson at (920) 309-0119 or by email: [email protected]. Until the Dessert Coordinator role is filled, dessert contributions cannot be kept at the church (since there is no coordinated way to get them to the shelter).

- Monetary donations for the meal are welcome, and they can be mailed or dropped off at the Parish Office. The shelter staff will determine the menu of items being served at each meal.

We are always in need of more volunteers to assist with this important ministry to the poor and hungry. The needy depend a great deal on the efforts of volunteers. If you’d like to help, contact Kristi Nelson.

Next Community Shelter Meal is on Sunday, January 28th.

The remaining meals for 2018 will be served on the following dates: • February 25th, April 22nd, May 27th, July 22nd, August 26th, September 23rd, and October 28th.

Thank you for your continued support of this important ministry.

EVENING PRAYER TO CLOSE CHRISTMAS

We know when Christmas starts, but when does it actually end?? The season always comes to an end with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (January 8th this year). To mark the end of this “most wonderful time of the year,” St. Clare Parish will celebrate

Evening Prayer with Adoration on Monday, January 8th, 7:00pm at the Askeaton church.

Come for an evening of quiet prayer, reflection, and adoration of “God-with-us”…Emmanuel.

January 7—Epiphany of the Lord

“..they fell down and worshipped him. Then they

opened their treasures and offered him gifts of

gold, frankincense, and myrrh...”

- Matthew 2:11

Notice the order of events in the Magi’s visit. First, they knelt before Jesus and prayed to Him. Then they presented Him with their gifts. We, too, must take time to pray before we present our gifts to the Lord. We never know what God may be asking us to share!

If you would like to join the Prayer Shawl Ministry, the next meeting is
