BRECKENRIDGE SKI RESORT IS ONE OF FASTEST GROWING SKI AREAS IN NORTH AMERICA.
SITUATED AT THE BASE OF PEAK 8 WITHIN THE SKI RESORT, THE GRAND COLORADO ON PEAK 8 (RIGHT) CONSTRUCTION IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY WITH A PROPOSED GRAND COLORADO EAST BUILDING (MIDDLE) THAT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE TOWN OF BRECKENRIDGE PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVAL.
THESE LUXURY RESORTS WILL COMPLETE A DISPARATE BASE AREA THAT HAS SEEN CONTINUOUS CONSTRUCTION FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
IF APPROVED , CONSTRUCTION COULD START LATE IN 2016.
PROPOSED SITE PLANS & RENDERINGS FROM AROUND THE BUILDING WERE CREATED FOR NEIGHBORS AND THE T.O.B. PLANNING COMMISSION. UPON REQUEST, VIEWS FROM WITHIN THE GONDOLA THAT CONNECTS THE TOWN TO THE SKI RESORT WERE ALSO CREATED AS SHOWN LEFT.

THE KNICHREHM RESIDENCE WAS A 3000 SF HOME DIVIDED AMONG 3 FLOORS. THE HOUSE HAD NO MASTER SUITE AND LIMITED STORAGE THROUGHOUT FOR THE FAMILY OF 4.
MSA STAFF DESIGNED A 1000 SF ADDITION THAT CREATED A MASTER SUITE, ADDITIONAL STORAGE & RECONFIGURED EXISTING BATHROOMS TO IMPROVE FUNCTIONALITY.
AS JOB CAPTAIN FOR THE PROJECT, TASKS INCLUDED COMMUNICATION WITH CLIENTS & BUILDER, PRODUCTION OF PLANS & ELEVATIONS & DESIGN DEVELOPMENT WITH THE ARCHITECT

LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE AND FACING MANHATTAN ISLAND, THIS TRULY UNIQUE SITE SITS WITHIN A VIBRANT CITY & IS A PERFECT LOCATION FOR A MUSEUM OF HIP HOP IN NEW YORK.
STUDENTS DERIVED FORMS FROM THE ANALYZATION OF HIP HOP MUSIC FROM THE LATE 70’s, 80’s & EARLY 90’s. THROUGH FILTERING & ANALYZING SONGS, ABSTRACT FORMS WERE CREATED. THE NEXT STEP WAS COMBINING & UTILIZING FORMS TO CREATE ARCHITECTURAL SPACE.
DRAWINGS ON MYLAR USING INK TRANSFER, MODELS CREATED FROM FOUND & RECYCLED OBJECTS & ABSTRACT FORMS ENABLED DESIGNERS TO CREATE COMPETITION STYLE PROJECTS.

BAKER ASSOCIATES WERE TASKED WITH THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN OF A HONDA POWERSPORTS SALES AND REPAIR CENTER.
HONDA POWERSPORTS INCLUDE MOTORCYCLE, BOAT, & ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE PARTS AND SALES. PROGRAM INCLUDED AN OUTDOOR VEHICLE DISPLAY AREA IN THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING, SALES/ RETAIL FLOOR SPACE & A MECHANICAL SHOP AREA

A SERIES OF ELEVATIONS WERE STUDIED TO DETERMINE A SENSIBLE SOLUTION USING A PRECAST SYSTEM.
A SCHEMATIC PLAN WAS PRODUCED FOR CLIENT APPROVAL.

STUDENTS WERE TO DESIGN A DORMITORY LOCATED ON THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - MILWAUKEE CAMPUS ADJACENT TO ENGELMANN FIELD, HOME OF UW-MILWAUKEE SOCCER.
THE RESIDENTIAL COLLEGES WERE TO HOUSE 400 DORM ROOMS, A COMMON AREA WITH CAFETERIA, CLASSROOMS, & WORKOUT FACILITIES.
THE SITE PROVIDED AN AMPLE OPPORTUNITY FOR A GREEN SPACE ON THE PROPERTY. A GREEN SPACE WAS PLACE ALIGNED WITH THE EXISTING SOCCER FIELD TO CREATE A CONNECTION ACROSS OUTDOOR SPACES.
IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE VISUAL SIGHT INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND UTILIZE WESTERN SUNLIGHT, DORM MASSING WAS SPLIT BETWEEN THE SOCCER FIELD (LEFT).

BY DIVIDING THE PROGRAM INTO TWO BUILDING MASSES, SOUTHWESTERN SUNLIGHT ONTO ENGELMANN FIELD WAS NOT INTERRUPTED. AN EMBEDDED CORRIDOR
RUNS FROM THE NORTH BUILDING TO THE SOUTH.
A GREEN SPACE WAS LOCATED ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD SIDE OF THE SITE CONTINUING EXISTING OUTDOOR
SPACES WHILE RESPECTING THE NEIGHBORS.
COMMON AREAS ARE FORMED OUTSIDE OF STUDENT UNITS AND NO DOUBLE LOADED CORRIDORS WERE USED
ON THE PROJECT.

LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS & NEXT TO THE GATEWAY ARCH, STUDENTS PARTNERED WITH THE ST. LOUIS BASED FIRM HOK TO DESIGN A SKYSCRAPER FOR THE BUSTLING CITY.
RIPLEY RASMUS, DIRECTOR OF DESIGN AT HOK, PARTNERED WITH THE STUDIO TO PROVIDE DESIGN INPUT & CRITIQUES.
PROGRAM CONSISTED OF A 5 STAR RESTAURANT IN THE BASE OF THE TOWER, FLOOR PLATES TO ACCOMMODATE LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESSES & A TOWER PODIUM TO BRING DOWN THE SCALE OF THE BUILDING.
IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE VIEWS & OF THE GREATER ST. LOUIS AREA & DIFFUSE WIND LOADS, THE SKYSCRAPER’S FORM UTILIZED JAGGED GEOMETRY TO BISECT WIND (UPPER CENTER). THIS ALSO ENABLED THE TOWER TO APPEAR SLENDER FROM MANY VANTAGES.
