What’s Happening Exalted Ruler MessageMembers all,

Summer is in full swing! Our new slate of officers is already doing a great job and working hard to bring our Lodge more every month. Thanks to all the volunteers, committee members, and officers for working so hard! I would like to take a minute to thank everyone who sent cards, prayers, good thoughts, and support to my family this past month. It made all the difference as me and my son, Anthony, recovered from our surgeries. A special thanks to all the Officers who stepped up to fill in for me while I was out. They made sure my only focus would be recovery and caring for my son and that meant so much. There is nothing like being a part of an Elks family in the good times. But it’s during the tough times that I’m reminded how much I appreciate all of you. Again, from my entire family, thank you so much. At the end of June I’ll be heading to St. Louis for our National Convention with some of our other Lodge members. I’m looking forward to another year of learning and growing. It’s always exciting to bring back new ideas, lessons, and ways of impacting our community and our Lodge. I look forward to sharing all of that with you when I’m back. It’s an honor to be able to represent Milford at a National level. As always, please support our committees and the great events they have planned. Kevin Suech has worked hard to put together a great wine tour and tasting trip complete with a Lodge crawl. Support all his efforts by supporting this event. It looks like a it’ll be a lot of fun! I also encourage everyone to try to get to the Flag Day Ceremony at the flagpole on the green. It really is a nice ceremony. Finally, try to come out and celebrate with us at the Officer and Citizen of the Year Awards Ceremony. Danette Contaras and Michelle Steinlauf are this year’s recipients. Danette puts in countless hours supporting our Lodge. She serves as a Trustee and one of our Hall Rental coordintors. She’s always there to lend a helping hand when extra help is needed. Her commitment to this Lodge is honorable. Michelle is a great asset to our community. She’s involved in so many impactful groups and committees. Most notably, to me, she is an integral part of the Food 2 Kids campaign that feeds over 150 Milford students with little to no food resources on the weekend. Join me in celebrating these remarkable women on June 23rd. If you need to get in touch with me for anything, I can always be reached by email, phone, or text.

Fraternally Yours,Robert Muoio [email protected] Ruler (203) 308-3149

Elk of the MonthThe Elk of the Month is Lou Swanson. Even before he was a member, Lou put in a lot of hours working hard alongside Chloe to help our Lodge. He’s spent many Friday nights cooking in the kitchen, been a helping hand for many of our great House Committee activities over the past year, and jumped in to save our Lodge some money by serving as a volunteer bartender. Thanks for everything, Lou!

Tip of the AntlersTip of the Antlers to Jen Musante and Dave Williams for all the hard work, time, and fundraising surrounding Relay for Life. We are so proud of your outside efforts to bring awareness to the Milford Elks.

Thanks to Kathy Hart, Sue and Ray Bernor for planning and running the Cornhole Tournament. Great job!

Tip of the Antlers to all the Trustees for working so hard to align the repairs and lock-in the insurance coverage after our unfortunate leak.

Dues can be paid in the tap room by cash, check, or credit card, or by PayPal to [email protected]. Balloting will be held at the second meeting in June with the following indivoiduals to be balloted on:

Trustee’s Corner House Committee NotesThe Friday night Elks Diner was successful and I thank the members of the House Committee that worked the first weekend. The special item on the menu will change each week to add variety to the menu. The week of May 31st we will serve pizza, since many of the members will be at the conference.

If you are interested in helping with a Committee event but don’t want to be on the Committee that is ok also. I know many members don’t want to commit to joining a Committee, but still would like to help. If anyone has an idea for an event please feel free to contact me with suggestions.

Please excuse the mess in the taproom as repairs will be on going over the next month. We will continue having events while under construction, but may need to make adjustments. Any changes will be placed on the Facebook and on the white board in the taproom.

MEMBERS ALL,

Good news this week!! We were informed by our insurance adjuster that work will begin soon, week of May 29th.

The highlights are we will be getting a new monolithic floor in the upstairs kitchen (no tiles or grout lines) sealed and no more leaks to down stairs ceiling, new floor behind bar, complete new floor in lodge room, smoking room, treasurers/secretaries office, trustees office and new floor in both restrooms.

Work will begin with removal of walls in the small room behind the bar, electrical work in ceiling, relocation of breaker panel next to the bar, glass washer under the bar, code violation and need to be updated.

Workmen will start at 7:00AM and finish and clean up by 2:30PM so we can be open. There will be times that the tap room will be closed, notice will be given a week in advance. We have asked that all care be taken to cover bar while work is done.

Again, I would ask that all members by patient and co-operative during these improvements., the end results will be well worth it. Work in kitchen will begin July 8th to August 1st.

We are also moving ahead with Keno & Lottery, just waiting for training date and installation date.

Fraternally yours,

Jeff Hall, PERChairman of Trustees
