Interesting to see the comments on page 20 of the May edition with regard to the freak hail and rain storm which took place in the afternoon of June 15th 2009. This picture was taken of our home on Broadmoor Rd. on the morning of the 16th when all of our lovely neighbours arrived to ‘dig us out’. By then the level had subsided – on the evening before the hail stones were so deep that the number plate of the car was covered. We were out of our home not for several days, but for five months – finally moving back in mid-November. During that time we lived in a 4-berth caravan in the garden.

I e lose a lete of tha ks f o Lesle :

On behalf of us all, thank you once again for this afternoon - we do appreciate the work that has gone in behind the scenes to make it such an interesting and worthwhile time for us. As I said to you, it was far beyond what I was expecting, and we came away with so many interesting bits of information about our ancestors and the local area. We enjoyed meeting some local people, too - as I don't have contact details for them, please pass on our sincere thanks for the effort they put into making our visit so memorable - we appreciate the Carbrooke generosity.

Sincerely Lesley Brighting

CARBROOKE VILLAGE HALL NEWS

THE END for dance club?

The Sequence Dance Club has been meeting in the Carbrooke Village hall for over thirty years . At one time it had more than 40 members, now we only have 9 and the club is no longer viable. We expect to close at the end of June 2014. The club could continue if two or three couples were to join. If you would like to join and keep this friend-ly club open please phone Brian Wells on 01603 412809 or email [email protected].
