本報告載列2011年有關資訊及通訊、金融及保險、專業及商用服務業的業務表現及營運特色的統計資料。本報告內的統計資料

This report presents the statistical information on business performance and operating characteristics of the information and communications, financing and insurance, professional and business servicessectors in 2011. The statistical informationpresented in this report was compiled from the results of 2011 Annual Survey of Economic Activities (ASEA). Details of the survey methodology are given at Appendix A. For details of the classification of industries covered in this report, please refer to Appendix B. The terms and definitions used in this report are given in Appendix C.

折舊數字由2010年統計期開始搜集，以優化營運成本統計數字的涵蓋面。而且，由2011年統計期開始，攤銷數字連同折舊數字亦開

Starting from the reference year of 2010,depreciation data were collected with a view toenhancing the coverage of the statistics on operating cost. Furthermore, starting from the reference year of 2011, amortisation data were collected together with depreciation data. Key statistics incorporating such data in the calculation are separately presented in Annex 1 for reference. Unless otherwise specified, all the statistics in this report are compiled excluding depreciation and amortisation.

industry 業務收益及其他收入 Business receipts and other income

2011年資訊及通訊業的總收益（包括業務收益及其他收入）為1,491億元，較2010年上升14.9%。2011年平均每間機構單位的總收益較2010年上升6.2%至1,700萬元。按總收益來源分析，服務收益達1,279億元，佔整個行業總收益的85.8%。

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the information and communications industry amounted to $149.1 billion in 2011, representing an increase of 14.9% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, total receipts increased by 6.2% compared with 2010 to $17.0 million in 2011. Analysed by source of total receipts, service receipts totalled $127.9 billion which accounted for 85.8% of the total receipts of the entire industry.

營運開支 Operating expenses

2011年資訊及通訊業的營運開支按年上升14.6%至791億元。2011年平均每間機構單位的營運開支較2010年上升5.9%至900萬元。

Operating expenses of the information and communications industry increased by 14.6% year-on-year to $79.1 billion in 2011. On a per establishment basis, operating expenses increased by 5.9% compared with 2010 to $9.0million in 2011.

僱員薪酬 Compensation of employees

2011年資訊及通訊業的僱員薪酬支出較2010年上升15.8%至312億元，而同期間僱員人數上升了8.3%。資訊及通訊業每名僱員的平均薪酬按年上升6.9%至323,800元。值得留意的是，僱員薪酬只佔整個行業總營運開支（即

僱員薪酬加上營運開支）的28.3%。

While the expenses on compensation of employees of the information and communications industry increased by 15.8% over 2010 to $31.2 billion in 2011, the number of employees in the industry concurrently increased by 8.3%. Average compensation of employees per employee increased by 6.9% to $323,800 in 2011. It is noteworthy that compensation of employees accounted for only 28.3% of the total operating expenses (i.e. compensation of employees plus operating expenses) of the entire industry.

盈餘總額 Gross surplus

2011年資訊及通訊業的盈餘總額，即總收益扣除營運開支及僱員薪酬，由2010年的267億元增加至286億元，增幅為7.0%。2011年平均每間機構單位的盈餘總額約為330萬元，與2010年的大致相若。2011年盈餘總額佔總收益的19.2%，較2010年的20.6%略低。

In 2011, gross surplus of the information and communications industry, which is equal to total receipts less operating expenses and compensation of employees, increased from $26.7 billion in 2010 to $28.6 billion, representing an increase of 7.0%. Average gross surplus per establishment was about $3.3million in 2011 which was similar to that in 2010. In 2011, gross surplus accounted for 19.2% of total receipts, slightly lower than thatof 20.6% in 2010.

增加價值 Value added

2011年資訊及通訊業的增加價值為596億元，較2010年增加11.2%。2011年平均每間機構單位的增加價值為680萬元，較2010年上升2.8%。每名從業員平均帶來的增加價值亦由2010年的58萬元，增加2.8%至2011年的60萬元。

Value added of the information and communications industry was $59.6 billion in 2011, up by 11.2% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, it increased by 2.8% compared with 2010 to $6.8 million in 2011. The average value added brought about by eachperson engaged also increased by 2.8% from $580,000 in 2010 to $600,000 in 2011.

機構單位的數目 Number of establishments

在2011年，資訊及通訊業內營運的機構單位有8 752間。在這些機構單位中，約97.3%（8 512間）的就業人數少於50人。雖然這些中小型機構單位的數目很多，但它們分別只

In 2011, there were 8 752 establishments engaging in the information and communications industry. Among these establishments, around 97.3% (8 512) engaged less than 50 persons in 2011. Although these small and medium establishments were large in number, they accounted for only 37.5% and 22.0% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the industry. In contrast, the 30 largest establishments in terms of the number of persons engaged already accounted for 37.1% and 49.4% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the entire industry.

在 2011年，資訊及通訊業的就業人數有99 948人，較2010年上升8.2%。2011年平均每間機構單位的就業人數為11人，與2010年的人數相同。僱員數目（96 336人）佔總就業人數的96.4%。

In 2011, there were 99 948 persons engaged in the information and communications industry, representing an increase of 8.2% over 2010. On a per establishment basis, the average number of persons engaged was 11 persons in 2011, identical to that in 2010. The number of employees (96 336) accounted for 96.4% of the total persons engaged in the industry.

銀行業# Banking industry# 業務收益及其他收入 Business receipts and other income

2011年銀行業的總收益（包括業務收益及其他收入）較2010年上升12.3%至2,810億元，2011年平均每間機構單位的總收益較2010年上升14.1%至11億700萬元。按總收益來源分析，淨利息收益是銀行業的主要收入來源。

這收益在2011年達1,200億元，佔整個行業總收益的42.9%。

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the banking industry amounted to $281 billion in 2011, representing an increase of 12.3% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, total receipts increased by 14.1% compared with 2010 to $1,107 million in 2011. Analysed by source of total receipts, net interest receipts was the main source of income of the banking industry. Such receipts totalled$120 billion which accounted for 42.9% of the total receipts of the entire industry in 2011.

Operating expenses of the banking industryincreased by 6.7% year-on-year to $77 billion in 2011. On a per establishment basis, operating expenses increased by 8.4% compared with 2010 to $304 million in 2011.

Expenses on compensation of employees of the banking industry increased by 14.7% over 2010to $81 billion in 2011. Accordingly, average compensation of employees per employee also recorded a year-on-year increase of 10.5% to $813,600 in 2011. Compensation of employees accounted for 51.1% of the total operating expenses (i.e. compensation of employees plus operating expenses) of the entire industry.

機構單位數目 Number of establishments

銀行業的特色是其業務高度集中。在2011年，銀行業內營運的機構單位有254間。在這些機構單位中，約63%（159間）的就業人數不足50人。值得留意的是，這些中小型機構單位只佔銀行業總就業人數（2.1%）及總收益（3.8%）的很小百分比。相反，以就業人數而言，首10間機構單位分別佔整個行業總就業人數及總收益的60.5%和56.6%。

The banking industry is characterised by high level of business concentration. In 2011, there were 254 establishments engaging in thebanking industry. Among these establishments, around 63% (159) engaged less than 50 persons in 2011. It is noteworthy that these small and medium establishments accounted for only small proportions of the total persons engaged (2.1%) and total receipts (3.8%) of the industry. In contrast, the 10largest establishments in terms of the number of persons engaged accounted for 60.5% and 56.6% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the entire industry.


在2011年，從事銀行業的就業人數有99 106人，較2010年上升3.8%。平均每間機構單位在2011年的就業人數為390人，較2010年的370人為高。值得留意的是，這行業內所有從業員均為僱員。

In 2011, there were 99 106 persons engaged in the banking industry, representing an increase of 3.8% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, the average number of persons engaged was 390 persons in 2011, higher than 370 persons in 2010. It is noteworthy that all persons engaged in this industry were employees.

金融業（銀行除外） Financing (except banking) industry 業務收益及其他收入 Business receipts and other income

金融業（銀行除外）的總收益（包括業務收

益及其他收入）較2010年輕微下跌0.3%至 4,450億元。2011年平均每間機構單位的總收益較2010年下降8.2%至6,100萬元。按業務收益來源分析，股息和服務收益為金融業（銀

行除外）的主要收入來源。在2011年股息及服務收益分別佔這行業總收益的53.2%和37.6%。而投資及控股公司的一大特色是其總收益的大部分來自股息。

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the financing (except banking) industry amounted to $445.0 billion in 2011, representing a marginal decline of 0.3% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, total receipts decreased by 8.2% compared with 2010 to $61.0 million in 2011. Analysed by source of total receipts, dividends and service receipts were the main sources of income of thefinancing (except banking) industry which contributed to 53.2% and 37.6% respectively of the total receipts of the industry. For investment and holding companies, one feature was that most of its total receipts came from dividends.

Operating expense of the financing (except banking) industry increased significantly by 20.7% year-on-year to $115.1 billion. On a per establishment basis, operating expenses increased by 11.1% compared with 2010 to$15.8 million in 2011.


2011年金融業（銀行除外）的僱員薪酬支出較2010年上升6.9%至818億元。但2011年每名僱員的平均薪酬按年下降3.7%至1,101,100元。這行業的薪酬水平為各行業的前列。雖

然這個行業的薪酬水平很高，但僱員薪酬佔

開支）少於一半（41.5%）。

Expenses on compensation of employees of the financing (except banking) industry increased by 6.9% compared with 2010 to $81.8 billion in 2011. However, average compensation of employees per employee recorded a year-on-year decrease of 3.7% to $1,101,100 in 2011. The level of compensation of employees in this industry was among the highest relative tovarious industries. While the level of compensation of employees was high in this industry, compensation of employees accounted for less than half (41.5%) of the total operating expenses (i.e. compensation of employees plus operating expenses) of the entire industry.

2011年金融業（銀行除外）的盈餘總額由2010年的2,744億元，下降至2,481億元，跌幅為9.6%。2011年平均每間機構單位的盈餘總額為3,400萬元，較2010年的4,090萬元下跌16.8%。2011年盈餘總額佔總收益的55.8%，較2010年的61.5%下跌。要留意的是，金融業（銀行除外）平均每間機構單位的盈餘總

業中最高，反映了這個行業高盈利的特色。

In 2011, gross surplus of the financing (except banking) industry decreased from $274.4 billion in 2010 to $248.1 billion, representing a drop of 9.6%. Average gross surplus per establishment was about $34.0 million in 2011 which was 16.8% lower than that of $40.9 million in 2010. In 2011, gross surplus accounted for 55.8% of total receipts, lower than that of 61.5% in 2010.It should be noted that the figure of averagegross surplus per establishment and the ratio of gross surplus to total receipts of the financing (except banking) industry were the highest among various industries, reflecting the high earning characteristics of this industry.

增加價值# Value added#

這行業為一個高增值的行業。2011年金融業（銀行除外）的增加價值為748億元，較2010年下跌7.8%。2011年平均每間機構單位的增加價值為1,900萬元，較2010年下跌14.6%。平均每名從業員的增加價值亦由2010年的170萬元，下跌15.6%至2011年的150萬元。

This industry was a high value-added one.Value added of the industry was $74.8 billion in 2011, down by 7.8% compared with 2010. On a per establishment basis, value added was $19.0million in 2011, which decreased by 14.6% as compared with 2010. Average value added per person engaged also decreased by 15.6% from $1.7 million in 2010 to $1.5 million in 2011.


在2011年，金融業（銀行除外）內營運的機構單位有7 298個。在這些機構單位中，約97.8%（7 138間）的就業人數少於50人，這些中小型機構單位分別佔這個行業總就業人

In 2011, there were 7 298 establishments operating in the financing (except banking) industry. Among these establishments, around 97.8% (7 138) engaged less than 50 persons in 2010. These small and medium establishments accounted for 52.2% and 58.9% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the industry. On the other hand, the 50 largestestablishments in terms of the number of persons engaged already accounted for 33.3% and 30.0% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the entire industry.

In 2011, there were 76 079 persons engaged in the financing (except banking) industry,representing an increase of 12.4% over 2010. On a per establishment basis, the average number of persons engaged was 10 persons in 2011, identical to that in 2010. The number of employees (74 291) accounted for 97.6% of the total persons engaged in the industry.

保險業# Insurance industry# 業務收益及其他收入 Business receipts and other income

2011年保險業的總收益（包括業務收益及其他收入）較2010年下跌3.6%至2,558億元。2011年平均每間機構單位的總收益較2010年下降3.6%至9,770萬元。按總收益來源分析，直接保險的總保費及投資收入分別佔這個行

業總收益的83.6%及8.4%。

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the insurance industry dropped by 3.6% over 2010 to $255.8 billion in 2011.On a per establishment basis, total receiptsdecreased by 3.6% compared with 2010 to $97.7million in 2011. Analysed by source of totalreceipts, gross premiums of direct insurance and investment income contributed to 83.6% and 8.4% respectively of the total receipts of the industry.

Operating expenses of the insurance industryrose by 6.7% year-on-year to $11.5 billion in 2011. On a per establishment basis, operating expenses increased by 6.7% compared with 2010 to $4.4 million in 2011.

Expenses on compensation of employees of the insurance industry rose by 10.8% over 2010 to $21.7 billion in 2011. Average compensation of employees per employee also recorded a year-on-year increase of 8.1% in 2011. It is noteworthy that compensation of employees accounted for about two-thirds of the total operating expenses (i.e. compensation of employees plus operating expenses) of the entire industry.

In 2011, there were 2 617 establishments operating in the insurance industry. Among these establishments, 97.4% (2 549) engaged less than 50 persons in 2011. These small and medium establishments accounted for only 14.5% and 15.0% respectively of the persons engaged and total receipts of the industry. In contrast, the 20 largest establishments in terms of the number of persons engaged accounted for significant proportions of the total persons engaged (74.3%) and total receipts (65.1%) of the insurance industry, reflecting the high business concentration of this industry.

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the professional, scientific and technical activities industry grew by 14.5% in 2011 over 2010 to $109.4 billion. On a per establishment basis, total receipts increased by 8.3% compared with 2010 to $4.8 million in 2011. Analysed by source of total receipts, service receipts totalled $102.7 billion which accounted for 93.8% of the total receipts of the industry.

In 2011, gross surplus accounted for 19.4% of total receipts, marginally lower than that of 19.5% in 2010.

Average value added per person engaged also increased by 2.1% from $440,000 in 2010 to $450,000 in 2011.

One prominent feature is that establishments engaging less than 50 persons dominated in this industry (98.9%). In 2011, they accounted for 61.0% and 44.5% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the industry. On the other hand, the 50 largest establishments in terms of the number of persons engaged accounted for 23.5% and 30.7% respectively of the total persons engaged and total receipts of the entireindustry.

Total receipts (comprising business receipts and other income) of the administrative and support service activities industry rose by 5.6% compared to 2010 to $124.8 billion in 2011. On a per establishment basis, total receipts increased by 4.5% compared with 2010 to $11.1million in 2011. Analysed by source of totalreceipts, service receipts totalled $60.4 billion which accounted for 48.4% of the total receipts of the industry. Analysed by industry group, passenger revenue and revenue related to travel services brought by travel agents and tour operators accounted for 48.4% of the total receipts of the industry.

Statistics in this report (except those in Table 6) reflect the economic contributions of all establishments that had ever operated in the survey reference period, including those which had operated during the whole or part of the survey reference period (see page 82) but failed to respond or were untraceable during the survey enumeration period. Since information on these establishments was not available, their economic contributions were imputed with due reference tothe cost and receipts patterns displayed by reporting establishments in the same industry / employment size stratum to which they belonged in this survey. An establishment of this nature which operated for only part of the survey reference period was imputed with a smaller economic contribution than a similar one which operated throughout the entire 12-month period.

For example, the number of establishments as at 31 December 2011 differs from that which ever operated in 2011, as the latter includes also those establishments which once operated within 2011 but had ceased operation before 31 December 2011.
